Hi, anyone with similar prob of losing pressure in the front tyre of my new Street Scrambler? ..average 3 lb psi in 6 days... no punctures etc and had same prob on my previous Street Scrambler when the dealership first replaced the valve then with a thicker inner tube which seemed to sort it out... back tyres on both bikes were fine. .. I did hear a while back that a lot of the front tyres on the classics suffered the same problems with the front tyre but I hoped it had been sorted. I know its not me allowing pressure to escape when taking the reading with my ‘non digital’ gauge so can only think it’s the inner tube again... dealership say they haven’t come across it before but are willing to try and sort it again... in for its first 500 ml service on Monday so will see what they will do. Any similar experience or comment helpful thanks

There’s been reports of tubes tearing around the valve. Might be worth buying your own tube and getting it replaced if the ones Triumph are supplying are cheap rubbish.

Yeah thanks ... will see what the dealership say on Monday and if they can’t fix the problem I’ll see about getting a better tube... cheers

Any update? I'm getting a 2019 SS soon useful to know if you've managed to sort this.

Hi, yes the dealership replaced the inner tube and problem is sorted as has stayed at the correct pressure for a week. The new tube I think has a longer valve stem so it’s not the same tube as the stock one it came with... perhaps Triumph know all about the problem but are still using up old stock some of which must be ok... dealership says they don’t know of ‘any problem’ but given it’s my second SS and both sorted with a new tube it’s likely they both do. Fingers crossed for the tube in your new bike! ... overall It’s a brilliant bike for what it’s intended for.

I have a 2019 Street Scrambler and experiencing the exact same issue - front tire loses about 4psi in a weeks time...not good! frustrating to have to constantly worry about finding air on rides!

Yes absolutely... when the dealers re open get them to replace the inner tube ... on my 2018 SS they replaced the valve first but then had to replace the tube to fix the prob.... when I reported the same issue on my 2019 SS they replaced the tube without any fuss and I’ve had no prob since... dealership said it wasn’t a known general issue but it must be ... at least there were no arguments or payments required to get it sorted ...

I bought a used America [wire wheeled, tube type] a number of years back. It had this problem, but I kept putting air in it every time I took it out. I felt really stupid when, after several YEARS I found that the valve stem was loose :( ...J.D.

I’m picking up a new SS tomorrow. At the first tyre change, or before if I get a puncture, I’ll be fitting 4mm tubes. Had them on the dirt bike for years and swear by them. They just a bit more awkward to fit.

Just to say if it’s a new bike the dealers should replace the front inner tube for free with a better one, as they did with both my Street Scramblers... never had problem of air loss since with either bike... it’s only the front that is rubbish as the rear tyres on both mine were absolutely fine at keeping pressure. Enjoy the bike .... it’s brilliant

I've been monitoring mine and the rear is stable and front is definitely dropping

I'm attempting to insert a graph - it may not work. Let's see...

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...boSdfexMV5m/pubhtml?gid=505214665&single=true

I hoped it would display on the page but maybe not.

I set them both a little high as I was worried about pressure loss. You can see where the dealer reset the front to 30psi at the service

That’s a shame Triumph obstinately appears to ignore the problem despite it being reported for over 2 years. As I’ve said , my dealer Pidcock’s in Nottingham replaced the inner tube on my 18 plate SS after first changing the valve (which made no difference to pressure loss) and the replacement tube fixed the problem. When I reported the same problem on my 19 plate SS they immediately replaced the tube and that again sorted the problem. That was May last year and been absolutely fine since so the factory fitted inner tubes for the front tyres are clearly the problem. My dealer said the replacement they fitted was a thicker tube and has a longer valve stem so clearly everyone knows there is a problem otherwise under warranty they’d be told to replace ‘like for like‘. Your graph usefully shows the problem very clearly ... my dealership just took my word for it as have been a regular customer for a few years .. . a pain on a new bike but quickly & should be easily sorted as long as your dealer is helpful. Best of luck

The dealer has put in a warranty claim for a new tube so I'll see what happens when that's fitted. To be honest, it's cost me far more for the TPMS to allow me to log the pressure and prove the problem to the dealer than it would have cost to simply get a tyre place to put in a new/different tube but hey ho.

I had the same issue on my 2019 Scrambler. The front tyre would loose 3psi every week. The dealer said not a problem and put in a new inner tube. A better quality one. Now have no problem of pressure loss.

I heard yesterday that Triumph have refused a warranty claim for my front tube as their warranty has restricted time limitations for "consumable items".

As this is a known problem and, because of COVID, I've not even been in the same county as my bike for much of the year, I'm more than a little disappointed.

This seems a very weak argument and not supported by your dealer. COVID times have meant everyone has to be more flexible when it comes to timings and issues. A tyre is consumable and not so much the inner tube. A warranty is a warranty then out of warranty is called “good will”. I had the slow leak my dealer spoke to Triumph. They first said the customer to monitor it and report back. I said No. I want to ride the bike with safety and confidence. They called Triumph back. Then Triumph said Replacement to be done straight away. Not an issue.

I've looked in detail at warranty and there are certain things not covered unless they are a manufacturing defect (which is what I'd expect anyway). I consider this to be such and will be asking the dealer to go back to Triumph.
