I ride a 2012 T100 bought new in the USA. I'm moving to England, my wife's motherland. Does anyone have experience importing an American model to the UK? I want to bring it because I know I've taken good care of it and I could not buy another in England for the price I can sell it here. Shipping costs are nothing because we have plenty of room in our container

I've checked the MSVA manual and the only potential problem is emissions. Will it pass as is, is engine mapping sufficient or is it going to be a major expense?BTW, UK requires <4.5% CO while USA requires <12 g/km. How do you even convert that?

I can test the emissions here, but will the fuel formulations have any effect?

Neither Triumph UK or USA has answered my queries about this, though you would think the factory could easily ascertain this information.

    Appreciate any insights.

I like those Guzzi V7's so long as they don't have the earlier plastic tank

IIRC Emissions testing or standards are only required for newly built motorcycles imported or built in the UK,with motorcycles having to be built to at least the present days standard at the time of manufacturer.

Therefore older used motorcycles imported are not subject to present days emissions requirements.

Thanks all. The problem is the machine has to pass a CO test before I can register it. It will be ten years old in January 2022 so if it can't pass, I'll just wait to register it. It may take that long to get my visa anyway!

I don't know much about Taylor Swift, but I'd bet she likes those long thick sausages.

Coincidentally, my son is bringing his V7. The Moto Guzzi factory told him there is no difference in emission controls.

My bike got here in the same condition I shipped it.

I had to get it transported to the inspection station Norwich. It passed the MSVA inspection, including the emissions test. It emitted 2.4, well below the acceptable level. After paying 85 pounds for that, I had to pay for an MOT, which was a repeat of the inspection without the emissions test. Waiting for the new reg then on the road!

Great news and a good but predictable result.

Unless you're moving from DC to TaW (Anglicised 'humour'!) it's time to change your profile and become a proper member! ;)

Congrats with that! Keep the rubber side down and stay on the wrong side of the road and you'll be fine.

Wow - I called them and had a great person helping.

Also look up the email of Bloor CEO on the internet and send a message there.

    It works.
