Hoping someone can help? Am I f**ked??

Bought a 09 street triple I have rode it around 200 mile and it ran nice , changed gear smooth, clutch seemed fine (not slipping)

After turning from a standing start going from 1st to second the bike lost all drive. No gears could be selected nor did it feel like the clutch was engaging.

Luckily it broke down within about 500m of my father in laws house ( well ex father in law, where still friends obviously). The man has a collection of 2 strokes anyone would be proud of and a decent knowledge of motorcycles.

When started the gear box feels like is selecting gears but isn’t actually engaging. The digital display is showing the gears change also but after relying the clutch there is no drive!!! The bike rolls without the clutch in and in gear !!

It’s quite late so it’s a job for tomorrow ?? Any ideas where to start? Doesn’t feel like the clutch has gone. ( will strip tomorrow )

    Sprocket come off the shaft?

    Coil retaining spring??

    Cheers

There is a Youtube skit about bikes loosing the drive sprocket nut - might be worth checking that? And welcome by the way.

hi mate. Thanks for replying !!

    I’ll have a look.
Need to plot today to see if the clutch is Defo engaging/disengaging.

even when the digital counter is showing that it is in gear and you feel like it is shifting the bike rolls without the clutch.

Anyone heard of issues with coil spring ?? Apparently Is more of a false neutral issues but I was getting this between 1st and 2nd but I was putting this down to me no shifting up enough! As it was only between them two gears And the bikes new to myself so abit I’d user error.

Knowledgeable peeps will be along soon but my first look would be to make sure dropped drive sprocket nut hasn't allowed drive sprocket to disengage from drive shaft splines.

    hoping it’s not too sinister

It does move easily, as stated my father in law is handy. We where both scratching are heads but it was 8.30pm and today is a new day.

I will speak with local mechanic this morning ( gavin, RACE HQ in horsforth, Leeds ) but mostly likely he’s rammed so hoping it wouldn’t be too difficult to sort.

Any ideas are welcome and appreciated

    thanks
