    Agree with DD ...... would probably prefer to meet somewhere........as would be a liability in a group....... I'll fit in with you as to date/time but cannot do tomorrow.

    I got my preload all setup on the newly suspended Daytona 1200 today, it's been months off the road, today is the day, time for a test drive and wonderous amazement, the sun is shining, got my gear on the birds are going to be singing, everyone will be looking at my cool bike and, and........... FAIL ! :sob::sob:

    On prime (engine off) fuel is leaking quite badly somewhere around carb no1 and I'm pretty sure it is getting into the airbox too as the lower seam on that is getting wet. I would hazard a sticking float bowl as it stopped after a short while when putting the fuel tap back to normal fuel position (fuel tap is vacuum operated, prime bypasses the need for a vacuum).

    It has to be some grime or something making it stick, it's a random leak out of nowhere and the bike has been fine before that and all the other carbs are good. I really don't want to take the bodywork back off, disconnect the airbox, move it back and remove the carb bank for one sticking float bowl...:mad::mad:. I've tried the good old "bang the float bowl" and try and reset it trick but not working so far : unamused:. I'm retiring for beer - I am sooooo pissed off! I might see if I can drop the float bowl in-situ.

    Today I replaced the missing and broken 'bank angle indicators'. For the broken one I started out cutting a groove to see if I could unscrew it with a screw driver, more in hope than expectation. Then progressed to solvents, baking it in oven and hitting it, In the end I drilled it out with a hand held drill, starting out with a 1.5mm bit and progressing up in half mm increments until I had it all out. Somewhat miraculously leaving some semblance of thread. Don't know it the copious amount of thread lock will keep it in place (did think of epoxy resin). Anyway, now I can be a hero again ;)

    Has the food improved at all at Squires ?
    It must rank as one of the worst places to eat based on my experiences but I haven't been there for a while.

    I agree the foods poor, I am only 5 mins from squires but rarely go, the only thing in its favour is there’s lots of bikes to look at, it was much better at the old cafe in sherburn,

    Do Nolan do different sized pads for their helmets? For my Shoei GT Air I went for the 'bit too snug' size but after a couple of months got the thinner cheek pads that made it simply 'very snug' as helmets should be. When buying pads, guy in SportsBikeShop informed me that if I 'd bought helmet and tried on in shop, I could have tried different sized inserts and got a non-standard one at no extra cost. Don't know if they do that for Nolan lids, or if the current Covid-19 situation affects that.

    Today I changed the front sprocket, took all morning so rear and chain will have to wait until tomorrow. When I took off the sprocket cover first thought was 'where's the sprocket?' :confused:

    Ah, there it is hidden behind loads of other gubbins...

    Was a right bugger to get the nut off and at one point contemplated giving up as I didn't want to risk something going wrong and jeopardising our first overnight trip of the year next week. But the combination of foot on rear brake, bending breaker bar alarmingly and hammer taps did the trick. Sprocket definitely needed replacing...

    After-market JT sprocket on right seems to have thinner teeth ends, but original on left definitely has pronounced wear on one side after nearly 20,000 miles.

    Well I tried them both and there didn’t seem to be much difference. So if is too snug now it may stay that way for quite some time.
    Dependant on where it is snug you can remove some of the side padding if you wear glasses. Check the booklet for this.

    Hi Duck I’ve bought two new helmets over the last 6 months a Bell open face and an Arai full face, they were both tight around cheeks and forehead when I got them and I thought of exchanging, however after a couple of weeks of use (3 to 4 hours per outing 2 or 3 times a week) they’ve both loosened up and fit well and snug now
    Nolan May be different though, give sportsbikeshop a call and I’m sure they’ll advise the best option:)

    Finally - FINALLY - got to put the new pre-unit Bonneville up on the shed/garage/workshop roof! The weather vane version, of course!

    I've been a bit wary about doing this - it does rather publicise the likely presence of at least one motorcycle - but it was a special birthday present from a very special person so it had to be done. And I managed it without repeating the unexpected rapid descent manouevre that I unwittingly employed a few weeks ago!! o_O

    @Duckadiledundee , I have a Bell Qualifier helmet that has a Transition face shield. I'm super pleased with how well the transition aspect of the face shield works. I can wear it in the full Arizona sun and it gets as dark as a dark tinted shield. But I can also wear it at night as easily as a clear shield. I got it for a song on www.motorcyclecloseouts.com. With the size of your noggin, you might be able to snag a deal on that site as they seem to blow out the very small and very large sizes.

    The red/black/white helmet I'm wearing in my thread from yesterday is my Bell with the transition shield. I actually scored that one for $117! Typically just the shield is $150. Not sure if they're still running that grand of a sale but might be worth checking out.
