I don't want to offend, but this forum drips with testosterone. While there are clearly women members, the male-dominated tone is hard to escape. So, I thought it would be appropriate to have a thread focusing on real women who ride Triumphs as opposed to the clearly sexist babes-on-bikes thread featuring models posing on scooters they never ride that already exists. I hope women in the forum will post their own photos and stories. Any Women in The Wind riders here? But, to start, how about Weronikia Kwapisa, author of "Everything Starts With A Dream" the book about her ride around the world. [IMG]

No, load of drivel. Whether it’s testosterone or just old fashioned blokes looking at women, leave it alone. If it offends you don’t look.

I agree with you, @Clarkey231, about not looking at babes and bikes on a forum if it offends. It's not a thread on my watch list. :joy: But I'm rather used to the "babes & bikes" deal since I have a Harley in addition to my Triumph. So I'm used to things like bikini bike washes and scantily clad women draped over choppers. I'm not a big fan of all that but actually find it rather amusing more than offensive. Plus I figure those women are missing out by spending their energy on washing and draping rather than actually riding. ;)

However, I am wondering what you mean by "No, load of drivel". Just what is a load of drivel? I didn't take the comments @DavidBrownLaw and his starting a new thread focusing on "real women who ride Triumphs" to mean replacing currently existing threads but rather to have a forum thread aimed at women who are real riders that ride Triumphs. I'm all for that!:grinning:

@Adie P and @Privateer, those terrific photos of your wives inspired me to look back at my own track experience. :) These photos were taken at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Nov. 2018 when I did a Keith Code Superbike School two-day camp (a fantastic birthday gift from Mr. Sandi). There were 32 students on the weekend only three of whom were women. Only one of the on-track coaches was a woman. I was one of her four students for the weekend and she was awesome. She was responsible to coach two of us in the Yellow Group and another two students in the White Group. That's her on the white bike behind me in the 2nd photo. And that gent with the white hair last two photos is Keith Code himself. The person speaking in front of the students is his son, Dylan Code.

It was a spectacular weekend and I loved every minute of it! But for sheer numbers it was completely dominated by men. Though the numbers of women riders is increasing, that is still the current nature of the motorcycling world. But at this camp, I never felt spoken down to or not taken seriously. And I don't feel spoken down to or not taken seriously on this male-dominated forum either. And if I did I would speak up....yeah, surprise, surprise.

I guess my bike doesn't quite fit the thread name since it's a BMW S1000RR and not a Triumph. But close enough? BMW is European like Triumph and all you Europeans are alike. :joy::joy::joy: Just kidding of course!

My on-track coach, Laura, checking me out from behind---so to speak. ;) We had no rear view mirrors of course and I was so focused on the track session lessons that I never knew she was behind me until she'd blow by me to have me follow her or to go observe and coach the other guy in our group.

Leading the pack! Actually, they may have been trying to find an opportune moment to pass me. ;):joy:

Our classroom for didactic sessions for the weekend. We had five sessions per day--30 minute of class, about 20 minutes on the track, then a ten minute debrief with our on-track coach. Then we'd take a quick water and pee break then back at it. Then a couple of track sessions at the end of the day if there was time. Everything ran like clockwork. Keith Code in the front with the white hair and Dylan to his dad's left.

Again, that's Keith Code working with a student on one of the several specialty bikes.

I must admit it is not clear what the load of drivel refers too! I am basically sick and tired of being told what I can and can’t look at, joke about or comment on. @DavidBrownLaw did not say I couldn’t look at babes and bikes (which I rarely do) but did sort of insinuate that it’s sexist and we should be rising above that sort of behaviour.

I live in Exeter and our local Rugby team has been forced to sack its mascot this past week because they are called the Exeter Chiefs and some supporters (small minority) decided its racist or hurtful to Native Americans, not that many live around here!

I work in the oil and gas industry and before that I was in the Royal Navy, I can assure everyone that sexist, racist and any other IST jokes and behaviour is the mainstay of the banter that gets you through being in those jobs and lives. So I guess what I’m trying to say (badly) is that the vast majority of ‘Normal’ working class blokes are sick and tired of being told what to think and do and joke about.

just to be doubly clear @DavidBrownLaw did not tell me what to look at so all good there!

Oh dear David, you have offended...is it 2020 or 1984 ? I too am sick and tired of being told what to say and do by every Tom, Dick and Harriet from the offended of the world. I agree that being crass, insulting, sexist or any of the other "ists" is not on but boys will be boys whether you like it or not. They may poke fun, look at naked women and tell sexist jokes from time to time. If you don't like it then don't subscribe. Here is a real woman on a bike.....unfortunately it was my Kawasaki not my Triumph Tiger. She is hoping to learn to ride and I will be giving her all the help and support I can give in all the right places. As soon as my Tiger is back on the road I will post some pics of her on that too if anyone is interested and not offended.

    ####UPDATE#####
Pics of the Tiger restored to her former glory but without my beloved on it so nobody can be offended.

Hey! That’s MY SE in the first post!

My wife and I had a very nice ride yesterday. Did about 4 hours, me on my T120, her on her Street Twin. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

    Great write-up SandyT!

I just bought Keith Code's book Twist of the Wrist II at a craft store in Hermann, MO. It was a great read, and your class with him must have been a hoot!

    Stay safe out there,
