Wasn't sure whether to put in rant of the day or here, but it made me smile. Just saw this in my junk e-mail, as scams go it is a pretty piss poor effort as they can't even be bothered to name the surname or give the bogus stinking rich dead relative a name , I guess some gullible people must respond or they wouldn't bother? Good Morning, I was in your country in October last year to look for any member of your family because of the issue I want to discuss with you in this message. The issue is that my bank wants to sit on the money (£23.7 million) a billionaire from your country who shares the same family's name with you died and left in our bank. I was his accountant when he was alive and banking with us. My bank is planning to move this money into our treasury as unclaimed and abandoned monies because none of his family members could be tracked down or traced. I can't fold my arms and allow this to happen when people like you and I can use some of the money to help ourselves and the poor around us. What needs to be done now to prevent my bank from taking this money is for me to immediately insert your name into the client's account file and officially make you his heir, and once that is done the money will automatically become yours by the right of inheritance, then we follow our bank inheritance claim procedures, claim the money and then share it equally between us. Please, this has nothing to do with fraud because it is an inheritance. Trust me on this if you can, and get back to me with your direct telephone number as quickly as possible. Remain bless.. Apparently, so I've been told, is this is deliberate (if it's a proper scammer rather than a small time dodgy guy). They only want the gullible and thoughtless to reply, as it can be a lot of time and effort for them once they have somebody snared. So they deliberately write it with dodgy spelling and grammar to put off the more aware recipient. i.e. If they worded it well, and somebody more astute did fall for the initial email, they may realise later down the line it's dodgy and call it off, wasting the scammers time (boo hoo). So they make it write bad dodgy to avoid that (among other things). Apparently.
