We usually get them when a storms brewing mate, the sun due tomorrow will hopefully kill em all off - though thunderstorms are forecast tomorrow night - I love English Summers:p

Saw a super stretch limo painted day glow pink. Started to flip around and get a photo, but saw some graffiti that said, “f*ck whitey, Blm” so I decided to head out of that neighborhood.

I saw this young gent practicing his fishing casting techniques--on a grassy knoll outside an apartment complex. He was gracious enough to let me snap a pic. This is definitely not a typical sight in the desert in the summer with no water in sight! :p:joy: You see the darnedest things on morning walks through the 'hood during a pandemic.

There's definitely something interesting and/or a bit strange that I observe as I'm out walking each day. Today we saw a young roadrunner who was quite interested in Mr. Sandi, Annie, and me. It jumped from the ground up onto a recycling bin and looked at us for some time. From there it jumped onto a block wall and still hung around awhile longer.

Another interesting and rather clever thing we saw was a horse with a fly mask on. ---Mask alert, mask alert-"-some on this forum may need to avert their eyes. The pattern on the fly mask was that of a zebra! I thought that was rather funny though I suspect the horse is none the wiser.

Zebra patterns are known to keep the flies at bay - some of the horses here are clad in full-body zebra patterned rugs in summer.

That is truly interesting and I had no idea, @Vulpes! I great up with horses but hadn't heard about zebra patterns keeping flies at bay. I have a good friend who has a horse. I'll have to ask her if she knows because if she doesn't I'm sure she'll find that tip very helpful. And her horse will be happier, too! :)

It does actually work, @Sandi T. . Additionally people use these - flies are attracted by the black sphere, fly up and get caught... Loer_dazenval_compleet.jpg

Cool! What is this sphere thingy called, Vulpes? I may check it out on Amazon. We're having a fly issue around here lately as there are several barns just down the path. I just watched Mr. Sandi throw a post-it note pad at a fly in our office for the last 15 minutes. Until I finally went and got a fly swatter for him.:joy:

I think it's called an h-trap, Sandi. Should be readily available.

Does it come in a two pack, JtC? I like to swat flies double fisted! ;)

Saw something on a TV program about Zebras being patterned as they are is because it confuses the flies and helps to deter them.

Thanks, Vulpes! I did find it on Amazon and it looks amazing. But at that price I think I'll continue to listen to Mr. Sandi fling magazines and office products at flies. Or just bring him the fly swatter.:p It looks like a very cool product, though. :) Those flies in the ad are pretty nasty looking. Fortunately I think the flies that are managing to make it into our house are the plain ol' housefly type and are more annoying that biting. Having grown up in Minnesota, I know full well how bad those "big daddy" horse flies are and if we had those I'd probably be happy to part with $329.99.

Ha! I'm ambidextrous (nice spelling!) only for gross motor movements, JtC. I can't tell you how many times I've thanked my lucky stars that I broke the elbow on my non-dominant side because I am VERY right-handed for pretty much everything except things like carrying a bucket, polishing a bike/car, pulling in a clutch, drinking a beer or...swatting flies.
