Hello everyone! I'm very excited to be joining the ranks soon as a 2012 new to me Bonneville owner. Bike has a little over 1000 miles, is local and is costing me $3500. How does that sound for a general price? I know it is in line with pricing guidelines at least. Been in love with the triumph look for many years and excited to get it in my garage. I'm still a relatively new rider and will use this to hone my skills even more. Have a tw200 I've been using for practice as well. Any helpful tips for the new guy?
Hi and welcome in $3500 USD equates to just under £2800 GBP which almost sounds too good to be true. If the bike is sound and does not require work, then you have got yourself a steal IMO
It's got very low mileage for it's age but I'd give it an oil and filter change straight away and make sure the air filter is clean too, It may still have the original tyres so I'd look at them carefully to make sure they're OK, if it has been sat on it's wheels for long periods without moving this can cause damage particularly if they've been allowed to go soft. Other than that I'd keep an eye out initially for the brakes not releasing correctly, make sure the chain has no tight spots and be aware of any oil leaks that appear. These are all common things associated with any vehicle that has very low mileage for it's age and the oil leak and sticky brake issues are down to the seals going hard through underuse they're not signs of it being a bad bike. Other than that just ride it and enjoy it
Welcome from Iowa @Jbadjones. Very nice find for a 2012. Any day of the week you could flip that Bonnie for $5000 or so. I obtained this little number for $3000: a 2006 with 4000 on the clock. Shoot us a few images of your new ride. Lots of advice already. I would drain the gas, if it has been sitting for long, oil change, filters, brake check, look for the casting date on tires and any signs of cracks or dry rot around the bead. Tires that are over 5 years old are suspect in my book. These bikes don't have any particular problems that need attention. There's plenty of performance mods and bling you can do, so search around the forum for options.
