Hi Joe, she walked away from the spill but with a black and blue arm for weeks. The Bonnie was a perfect size for her but it knocked the wind out of her passion to ride and I didn't want to push her back into the saddle. I will, Eli! My husband and I ride up to Vegas regularly. We take the back way through Florence--Phoenix--Wickenburg--Wikiup--and Kingman. For the past four years in October we've ridden up to Las Vegas Bike Fest with a few riding buddies. About a year and a half ago Mr. Sandi gave me a Keith Code Superbike School Riding Camp weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway as a birthday gift so we were there for that. And a couple of times when we've attended the Laughlin River Run we've zipped over to Vegas for lunch. And we've also ridden there just for the ride up and back--which we love--and to hang out, drink great cocktails and eat great food, people watch, gawk at the lights and light/water shows, and ride around the Red Rock Canyon loop. We were planning to hit Bike Fest again this year but I suspect we'll sit out a year thank to COVID.
Funny, the day she took the spill I was on a rented Indian fully deck out Road master...same crap.. two big header pipes roasted my right thigh!
Well now that I'm getting to now everyone I figured I needed to do a quick touch up of the road rash on the cowl of the seat. Since I was born the same year as the Bonneville I took the logo from the 2009 50th anniversary edition and modified it to cover the road rash, laser printed it on mylar and voila! Just a quick patch till I have time to re-paint.
Ah...Beautiful downtown Baker. Sorry neighbor. I don't get that far from home anymore. Even in the dead of winter you want a full tank of fuel, plenty of water, and maybe some extra snacks. I know the area well. If you get thier, try "The Mad Greek". I'd avoid "Bun Boy" though. That is about all the choice.you have in that town. ...J.D.
Hey Eli! I also live in Vegas, far NW part of town. Spend most of my riding time up at Mt. Charleston in the summer months, but can’t resist the occasional rip through red rock. If you see a silver speed twin be sure to wave hello! Hope to see you around.
