We have about 1 1/4 acres of land here, but the down side it is strictly desert. ANTHING other than weeds must be watered, fed and cultivated carefully. I originally came up with the garden idea because I was worried about the wife. She could no longer go and come as she pleased. The lockdown was stressing her out. I just bought the seed and gave it to her. She grumbled some about giving her something more to do. Now, a few months later she has to go visit her plants several times a day. My part was to get our almost 30 year old tiller running again to break up the hard desert ground. I also took and old plastic drum and a metal stand I salvaged from work years ago and made a composting barrel out of it. She puts her kitchen green waste, yard clipping etc in there to cook with a dash of water. Later out comes dark brown, rich ammendments for our nasty ground. A also had some wire mesh around that I made her cages for protecting her plants from the rabbits until they get going well. We cannot do anything about the situation we find ourselves in. Might as well stay busy. Also doing some electronic projects too. ...J.D.
Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! Good detective work, @DCS222. And a HUGE thank you and shout out to my Santa-in-July, Adie P.
Almost a winner. Or, rather more accurately ....... a winner in name only. The subject (moi) does not recognise the "wonderfully magnanimous" epithet applied so graciously (and erroneously!) to the object! BTW, Sandi., I did promise the other half of the pack so, as proposed, I'll send them via surface mail if you like. They'll take a bit longer perhaps (I gather surface mail also often goes air freight these days) but, by the sound of things, they'll be worth the wait for you two! Oh, and thanks for the shout out.
Well, @Adie P., you are a winner in my book...and in my heart. Mr. Sandi and I will happily accept your gracious and generous offer of more Tunnocks, Adie! I wish that Costco sold them here in the U.S. in the "big box warehouse" size container. Then again, maybe not. My nearly daily apple fritter indulgence coupled with a large supply of Caramel Wafer Biscuits would mean I'd probably have to adjust the preload on both my motorcycles.
If you believe masks work, great, wear your mask and be safe. Just don’t force it on everyone else. If a mask truly works, it should be good enough that you are wearing one. Now, start slinging. I’m out for a few days for chemo but I’ll check back eventually.
I'm following the science and data on masks and not the politics. Quite frankly I'm sick and tired of the politics around this topic. https://www.erinbromage.com/post/what-s-the-deal-with-masks https://www.ucdavis.edu/coronavirus/news/your-mask-cuts-own-risk-65-percent/ https://www.fastcompany.com/9051990...id-death-rates-100-times-lower-than-projected Hope your chemo treatments go smoothly for you, @JtC. I'll be sending positive thoughts your way and some prayers as well.
Thanks Sandi - you are most kind. I'll sort the remaining Tunnocks out in (relatively) slow time but I will get them to you eventually - pace yourselves! No offence intended but from your pictures I'd say that you've a hell of a long way to go before your weight is going to be even noticeable on a Speed Triple! Chow down!
I am not going to bite on the mask debate. I refuse to be sucked in. Sitting here this afternoon. The wife is baking her oatmeal bars. I had some studying to do this morning. I finished up my electronics projects Saturday. I now have all my computers working on the internet along with two Roku devices. I was having some difficulty until I descovered my system has two different IP addresses. I am really a "hack" when it comes to computers. Completely self taught. Been doing it a lot of years though, because it was a necessary function of my job. Just trying to stay busy in these trying times. We have a Zoom account set up to keep in contact with friends. We get together twice a week for our faith based meetings. It has been running between 75-85 connections on line every session. I have got it connected in to my 50" flat screen, my own camera and microphone. Only go out when I have to ...J.D.
Hmmm, a quick bit of research on these suggests they aren't readily available in the U.S. Amazon doesn't carry them--which is amazing because I always say "You can get anything on Amazon!" Evidently not. But now I'm a bit curious, Smilinjack, and feel a "blind taste test" between Tunnocks and these from Belmont Biscuits coming on so I'll to keep searching. I did run across a few reviews of the Belmont ones that weren't exactly complimentary. But I like to keep an open mind. Hence my use of the blind taste test method for food and drink. Thanks for the info!
