Looks good Schuey What’s actually behind those covers when you take them off - can you see directly into the engine for example?
Again, at the risk of sounding like a technophobe, what’s the point of them - or are the purely aesthetic?
Just don't let it get too dirty to begin with really. That combined with a few good quality polishes makes cleaning easier the next time as the dirt just flies off.
Here’s some piccies of the mods I’ve done so far. Sorry the bikes a bit grubby but I’m just back from a weekend of carving up the lanes around Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. So, there’s the V&H pipes with the baffles removed, natch gunmetal grey oil cap, machined brake reservoir cap, machined bar clamp, bar end mirrors and last but not least, black headlight cover. Think I’m petty much done for now as I’m really happy with the overall look The only thing I might consider over the winter when it’s laid up, is having the seat recovered. There’s a great place not far from me - may even consider brown leather although will need to discuss longevity with the shop owner.
Before you get your seat recovered bear in mind that it may no longer be waterproof. I made that error. It looks great but leave the bike out in the rain or encounter a heavy shower and you’ll have a wet bum until the foam has dried out. Is that headlight grill quick & easy to remove? It looks ok but l like to clean the headlight after a long ride. Would it be a pain to remove it each time?
That’s a really good point about leather getting wet and one I hadn’t even thought of, so thanks for that. The kit comes with a new bezel as well as the grille. The bezel is a bit fiddly to fit, but once in place it’s permanent and the grille just attaches with one star screw on each side so it’s real easy to take on and off - literally a 30 second job.
Just so you know, the wet bum issue is partly down to water getting in through the stitch holes. So it’ll happen whatever material is used to cover the seat, not just leather. What you really need is an embossed seat material, that gives the impression of stitched tuck’n’roll, diamond pattern or whatever. Which is what has been done to the original seat. They are out there if you look hard enough.
