Wheels in Peterborough usually have decent deals on Tuonos. They were offering a 2019 Factory for about £14k a few weeks ago. I just looked on their website and they have a 2020 Factory for £15k.

The one they had a few weeks ago was what I was looking at, good deal. 15k is what Colchester kawasaki are asking. Tried to get hold of this one today, will ring tomorrow morning.
I just found a great bike on Auto Trader.

If I didn't have mine I'd be sorely tempted to pull the trigger on that one from OYB.

I've had no issues with mine at all. Apart from the battery which gave up the ghost late last year. I changed it for a Lithium one. It depends what floats your boat of course, I went for an 1100 because the 1000's seemed to suffer from Stator issues and a few other gremlins. Apparently they changed the stator design on the 1100's and I've not heard of one failing. If you did decide to go for a 1000, I'd check the stator had been replaced (I would image most have by now).

I was thinking about stretching my budget at the time and going for a 2017 model because you get quite a few upgrades over the 2015/16 1100's. TFT screen, auto blipper as well as the quick shifter (which my 2016 has). Brembo M50 front calipers etc etc. In the end I got a cracking deal on mine, it was less than 2 years old, less than £10k and had just 600 miles on the odo and most important (for me) it was Blue. The story goes it was bought new by a 75 year old chap who decided 'it was a bit too quick' for him and he p/x'd it for something else.

For some reason Aprilia dropped the Blue colour scheme in 2017. You only get Blue Tuonos in RR spec and in 2015/16 model years, in the UK anyway. I'm assuming it wasn't a popular seller, but I love it. Then there's the Factory vs RR debate.

There's no doubt Aprilia sell far more Factory spec Tuonos than RR's. I don't get the "Factory will be worth more when you resell it" arguement though. Yes it will, but do you really buy a bike thinking how much it might be worth when you part with it? Plus as the RR is cheaper to buy, it follows you've laid out less cash in the first place, so where's the saving 3 or 4 years down the line? It comes down to the suspension of course. The Factory Ohlins is better than the RR Sachs. I got a Ohlins rear shock off a 2016 Factory for less than £300, so basically mine is identical to a 2016 Factory from the headstock backwards. There is no difference in the motors themselves. So that leaves the front forks. I've ridden a few Factory Tuonos. The Ohlins forks are better than the Sachs as I've alluded to above, but for my riding style the Sachs front end is more than adequate. At the end of the day, its your choice, your bike, your deal, etc, Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Hard finding a good deal atm, everyone OYB didn't seem interested in selling.

Left it for now see if anything else pops up.

I'm looking for my next bike & I've decided it'll be either the Speed Triple RS or Tuono Factory. I've test rode both and loved them both. The Tuono was a missile and the Speed Triple more comfy and more 'civilised' My heart is telling me Tuono but my head (and bank account!) are saying Speed Triple. I am really undecided and with the strong rumours the new models for 2021 are not too far away doesn't help me much!

I've signed up for both the Tuono forum & this one which will hopefully help me make my mind up.

Best price so far for a new 2020 Tuono Factory with Akra pipe & remap is £14,999

Best price so far for a new 2020 Speed Triple RS with QS & heated grips is £13,110

Also quite a lot of ex demo/low mileage Speed Triple RS for around £12K

Been without a bike now for 4 weeks and I'm missing having two wheels in the garage.

I rode an RS last year, great bike, but I already had my Tuono so I didn't see the point in getting one.

I'd be very interested to hear what you decide upon. Have your tried the Superduke R and the BMW S1000R too? They seem to be the four bikes people look at in that sector.

I don't think the s1000r can come close to the tuono or superduke in terms of character.
It does everything in OK levels.

Sold my blade within 24 hours of being advertised...what is going on?!

I've owned the S1000R before so won't be buying one of those. The 2020 KTM SDR is getting rave reviews but I just can't get on with how it looks! I've added the Ducati Monster 1200S to my list now so will hopefully be testing one of those soon.

Whats your thoughts about the build quality of the Aprilia compared to the Speed Triple and S1000r?

I sold both my speed triple in feb and blade last week. Sold the speed cus i wasn't using it much and blade because it was getting old and I've not got much time to be faffing when I just want to ride! Maybe should have considered the last point before buying an italian?!

Built quality so far seems good, its much more refined than the speed. But I have had issues with the upshift not going into 6th and the cruise control not turning on but think its user error rather than the bike.
Bmw has an air of snobbery to it, it does everything well but no excitment.

Aprila just makes you feel good. Its the mate who gets you in trouble all the time but you still hang with them!

The tuono has the grunt of the speed but the agility of a street.

Thanks for sharing the Tuono fun, have been looking at the Tuono for years now but I am sticking to Triumph still. Main reason is cost of insurance and cost of bike in total but its changing.
As a non UK citizen its getting harder and harder to be a Triumph owner and with the last tricks tin TriTun and not having to get a Haynes manual and having to mess around logging into a website to find info is just a a pain.

Will be fun to see what Triumph brings out tho in terms of the rumoured 1160. But I am a bit sold on the Tuono, this years colourscheme is really nice too.
