So, as we ease further out of lockdown, who is going to be going to the pub when they open tomorrow? Personally I am in no great rush to go back, I have survived 3 months plus without going & haven’t suffered unduly!
My son, also a student here in Winchester will be starting back at his pub job on the 9th July so we'll probably go and see him (and have a cheeky pint). The pub have organised it so no one goes inside - you can only sit in the beer garden and you can only stay for up to two hours and have three drinks maximum.
It certainly will be only the idiot elements antics that will be reported ... people acting like twats sells newspapers!
2nd wave of virus cases when churches and casino's opened, 3rd wave when some pubs opened and quickly shut down again voluntary.
In Arizona the bars were closed (along with lots of other business types) by government order then reopened when the stay-at-home order was lifted. Earlier this week they ordered to close again statewide because our numbers are through the roof. So Mr. Sandi's and my big decision is do we have a cocktail in the back yard or the living room. But we do have an ample alcohol supply so that's a plus! More like a necessity these days.
I think any problems will be in the cities or larger towns and most of the culprits will be the younger element Can’t see myself going to any pub in the near future,I’ll continue to enjoy a glass of fine malt or vino at home
Well i've enjoyed Friday nights in the pub with a few mates for quite a few years now but I think we'll be leaving it a week or two before we go back. Maybe let the rush die down if there is one. The pub we use is out of the way and not frequented by the younger end. It does do meals though and can be busy up to about 9:00pm. After that it's fairly quiet and before lockdown was open till 1:00am.
Going on Sunday. Someone in our town put the same question on FB and looks like everyone is staying away. Should be nice and quiet. I would think differently if I lived in a big town or city though.
No pub for me... I occasionally went as a punter, usually going to see a live band, but I went about 2 x per month as part of “the act” to various pubs. There’s no real road map for live music to open up again, and I’m wary anyway due to the dickhead elements. When you see the audience up and dancing, there’s nearly always one pisshead travolta bashing into everyone and testing their patience... it can get a bit lairy and you occasionally have to defend your turf as our equipment isn’t cheap. Not an interaction I want in the current climate. Even without that entertaining occurrence, you’ll get the crowd up and singing, so facing a load of punters singing directly back at you at the top of their voices is also undesirable if you wanna stop the droplets of mucus dumping their viral load over yourself and your equipment.
That’s a good point I have never. Thought of DCS. Bet you have seen some right sights over the years. On the other hand if you have got the audience up and singing then there can’t be any better feeling.
We've been hosting a beer garden at home on Wednesday nights. 7 mates all cycle in and bring their own bottles and snacks, put them on the table and mix and match. I'm not sure we will go back to the pub until late Autumn.
Yeah mate, you see all sorts... but it’s great fun too, when you win the crowd over, they lift you and your playing... they’re bouncing, the pub is bouncing, you’re bouncing... you get home about 2am buzzing, I’ve really missed it!
We've been missing the live gigs on Fridays. Not sure when that will come back and how quickly we will support them.
Only tend to go to pubs rarely these days unless it's for food or to see a band, so won't be rushing out just because we can. Might have a cheeky lunchtime pint on Sunday though DS
