Has anyone had the 12k service done by a dealer and any guidance on the price?

It’s around £600-700 the last I heard, you can do it for under £100 yourself, buy a manual and do what you can yourself then get someone else to do the bits your not confident to try.

You'll save (some) money and get the benefit of watching the service being done - properly- if you have the time and opportunity to book it into Clive WOOD. You can find him on bacefook if you're a soshal meeja type.

His place is in Swineshead, Lincolnshire so it's a bit of a schlepp for you but very definitely worth the effort.

I took two 675's up to him - from Devon - for servicing and it was well worth the experience and expense.

Yes i take my bike to Bulldog triumph. They are quite happy for me to do oil filter, brakes and all the little jobs and it keeps the price down a little. Also welcome to the family. Do hit the upload a file button bottom right corner and show the inmates a picture of the steed.
    Regards
    Joe.

Yes he looks after all the race bikes from various people. My boy takes his 675 there now and again for a full engine refresh and funny bits to make the thing go even faster than fast.
    Regards
    Joe.

I paid £317.98 for a 6000 mile/12 month service at the 12 month point at Performance Triumph and they have quoted me around £1000 for the 12k.

BMW as far as I know don't do valve clearances until 18K or three years. I was looking at a Speed RS with near 6k miles on it but with a 12k service looming i cant afford to be bitten twice. Whether i use the Street or a new Speed on my forthcoming trip to Biarritz, that trip will put 2.5K miles on the bike.

that’s mad over £300 for an oil change cos basically that’s what the 6000 mile service is, my wife has a Lexus car a hybrid and the service is £200 for the equivalent 6000 mile service ,this is why bikes will never be an alternative to cars as servicing and parts etc are ridiculously priced, if I had to pay that kind of money for servicing I wouldn’t have a bike.

You are right, i used to service my bikes when I had older less valuable bikes but when they are in warranty you take a chance if you are not a really capable mechanic and I dont class myself anywhere near that.

Depending on how many miles you do your 6000 mile service will cover you upto your warranty ending at 2 years you can then go elsewhere or do bits yourself as you’ll never get back those £1000 and £300 service costs on your resale, on oil changes keep your receipt for parts and take pics on your phone to prove the job was done that’s what I do.
