Have you checked your battery connections are tight?

 

Dirty contact in the switch block ? Had similar symptoms on a 94 Trident , when it was 4yrs old , and my 09 America did it too ! The contact's can look clean , but an invisible film forms and it makes starting intermittent.

He has not been on the forum for six weeks, so possibly, yes.

Yes probably battery. My 675 was fine came out last week from work and nothing. Battery was 12 10 something. Got a jump and away it went next morning nothing even after tickle charging battery showing charged. Changed the battery and all is fine now.

This is a serious known issue with Tigers. My 2016 XR Tiger has stranded me multiple times in the backcountry around Mt Adams and Mt Rainer. I researched this bike well and it had good reviews, but I have never been on a less dependable motorcycle, much less one marketed as an "Adventure" bike. This is lawsuit waiting to happen. It will leave you STRANDED IN THE DANGEROUS MOUNTAINS OUT OF CELL SERVICE, in BEAR COUNTRY - RUN AWAY - THEY KNOW ABOUT IT AND IT IS A HUGE BILL OVER $2000 IF YOU CAN FIND THE ISSUE - IT IS DIFFERENT EACH TIME IT SEEMS - NO HELP - RUN AWAY FROM TRIUMPH

May I suggest the problem seems to be your mechanic charging you for him to just muddle through stuff rather than diagnose and fix the problem

Perhaps if you want to spout of you might start your own thread Adam Jarvis's topic and I don't think he needed your trash. Perhaps you should go find an old Honda and spare Triumph your views.

This seems like the perfect place to spout off. Hopefully Triumph will see how dangerous it is to have such a fundamental engineering flaw as to inhibit the very basic ability to start on a motorcycle specifically marketed to the "adventure" crowd who almost solely ride in the out-of-cell range, in the mountains, in bear country. If you had ever actually ridden in the backcountry mountains between Mt St Helens and Mt Rainier after dark, and felt the danger of being in bear and cougar country during mealtime, you would get it.
Maybe you are just a plain old city commuter who can always call a tow? If so, you dont get it. This can place people's actual lives in danger. And to think I paid a premium for this experience. I dont ride in populated areas at all.It is all in areas I might see a car every 4-5 hours or more. In such a case, what a joke of a bike. I am not a Triumph fan boy like you. I dont care about the brand. I just thought I was buying a backcountry bike that would of course always be reliable. The fact a 30 year old bike worth $2000 can best that kills me. So dont read it if it bugs you so much. This is my first Triumph, so news to me. And all the reviews out there talk about how reliable it is until you start reading closer. Dont blame me fan boy. Blame Triumph engineers who knew, and took shortcuts on a $16k "adventure" bike that will leave you stranded in the deep woods if the sun shines on it.

 

As with anything in life, there are those that whinge and moan, those that give constructive criticism or advice, and those who are just an annoying bundle of joy despite what's going on around them
Most of the time, any of those people do it after introducing themselves and giving a measured account of what is happening and the history behind it, with maybe a hope of some revelation from the combined experience and knowledge of those who are living with the product or condition
Unfortunately you have jumped straight in to a product based forum with none of the above and just started ranting IN BIG LETTERS
You keep talking about being stranded in bear country with no cell signal, so please let us know what your plan of action and risk mitigation is for you having an accident or spill on your hyper reliable Honda in the same place
Perhaps if you stop ranting and ask for advice, listing the problems you are facing then you may find some useful information or experiences. I would also suggest finding a mechanic who is a bit more savvy with motorbikes as the one you are using appears to be using you as a cash cow

I prefer to not use emojis, they strike me as far more immature than all caps, tbh ... but maybe thats because my 16 year old daughter uses them so much...

 

If you dont like a good rant that is justified, Blame Triumph engineers who knew, and took shortcuts on a $16k "adventure" bike that will leave you stranded in the deep woods if the sun shines on it. Ill stop whining and moaning for you when you put my hard-earned $$$ back in my pocket for me. Maybe you dont have first amendment rights over there, but we do here in USA. You can always just pass it by if it bugs you. Also, I was just stranded that day, so still pretty hot about it when I first posted it ... the 3rd time it has happened now. Literally had just got off the phone talking to first my mechanic in Hood River (one repair bill to them), and then the Triumph dealer in PDX who informed me it would likely cost a couple thousand to bring it there to diagnose. LEMON LAW HERE WE COME

 

As if that isnt enough, they will have a 4-6 week turnaround so my riding season I have been waiting all year for looks shot, on top of paying paying paying. So at this point, I dont care what you think, and will likely unload this crapbike asap.

I just hate to think people like me are still out there trusting Triumph to do the right thing. RUN.

Yes now what about service history proper dealer history how is the bike ridden and maintenance. The best thing is if you are not happy trade the beast in for something you prefer.

I have to say as insults go it's a pretty poor offering, I have had far better ones from bigger, and clearly much better people
Just a shame you didn't think it was worth engaging with forum members to resolve your issues rather than jumping straight in with petty jibes
Personally I taught my daughters (30 and 27) not to be so judgemental, to ask for help when needed, and not to alienate the very people who might do that
