Weather was great again today, so Waspy and I went to the seaside to a town called Katwijk. Made a long ride of it and covered 200kms.

Dutch social distancing at the beach. Beautiful golden sand too

Great Pictures and glad you got out and about. Yes looks great there. Tell you what you get the beer chilled and the barbi hot and we will all be along next weekend. Of course we will all have to crash out at your place afterwards till our eyesight returns. But great pictures and nice to hear from you.
    Regards
    Joe

I can sadly say the same about what’s happening in the US right now, Dilli.

You’re all welcome. I thought you’d like to see how it is here.

From what I saw on the beach everyone seemed to be separated nicely. I just walked down to the beach to take the photos, and then continued my ride.

I am glad you had a great day, Nikki! We also had lots of sunshine lately and I try to be out and about as much as I can!
Have been out to dinner almost every night since the restaurants opened again... With two months missing to go out and see people, it feels like heaven!

    Cheers!

Wish our restaurants would open. I think it’s imminent though. I’m looking forward to when I can cross the border to our neighbor on the East. Keep enjoying it Daniel

It's nice to know that some people can be out enjoying the sun and the sand and having fun responsibly, Nikki. :sun::)Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case for many. Here's an example from last weekend in the U.S. (Missouri specifically) over our Memorial Day holiday. :p I previously posted this photo in the Corona Virus thread twice--first when this party scene made the national news and the second time with the headline announcing that one of these party-goers tested positive for COVID a couple of days ago. I certainly prefer your beach photos to this one! Yikes.

    @Winglad
How was it being in restaurants, Daniel? I'm curious as to what the COVID-related protocol is there. In Tucson in particular, numerous restaurants have made the decision to not open for dine-in yet but are continuing curbside takeout until they see what happens with COVID cases during the reopening of businesses. Those restaurants that have reopened seem to be focusing on having fewer tables spread further apart and when possible having as much outdoor dining as possible if they have a patio area. Many are requiring reservations in order to make spacing out diners more efficient. Servers and staff are wearing masks but patrons aren'y required to. But then it would be tough to eat with a mask on.

My goodness Sandi, that’s insane, shocking. That certainly wouldn’t be allowed here.

Sandi, actually in some ways, it is just as I personally would prefer it all year ’round, with or without Corona... Like you described, all the staff wears masks. The guests should (not mandatory but highly recommended) wear masks, when entering, leaving or moving around. Especially when coming in to pick up food! There is disinfectant fluid at the entrance for cleaning your hands (some places, especially the Chinese, will not let you in, if you do not comply). And you have to leave your address and phone number for the feds to track you down in case of an infection occurring during your stay. This data is erased every 30 days (...).
It is all quite arduous but also efficient and I think, we could have done it this way from the start and not close down everything and ruin so many lives. BUT that is my very private, over-liberal, and totally irresponsible opinion, as I have been told so many times, I can plaster my walls with it.
    (End of intermediate rant)
Anyway: I enjoy other people being forced to sit at least 2 meters apart from me. I ALWAYS do. I love to snuggle up and hug and rub with people, I love. The rest, please keep their distance ;).
And I would agree, that this attitude might be good in terms of spreading viruses and gossip and stuff, but in the end, I might be not too overtly social. But my theory is, it hit Italy and Spain so bad, because they hug and kiss away with everybody in reach. Which definitely makes them much more human than say, the Germans. But it can also be disastrous. Again: my personal totally unprofessional opinion.

The big drawback is: Restaurants loose more than 50% of their capacity and I do not know, how this will work out for them in the next months. We will see.

In general, folks a very disciplined as far as I can observe. I took a walk along the river yesterday on a warm and sunny afternoon and everyone kept the distances required from every other stranger.
Funny side-effect: That sometimes leads to discussions on the sidewalk... Who has to divert onto the street to keep the distance. But I guess, that is typically German as well :D

Great pictures Nikki, you have the same weather as us! Been down to the coast here in Hampshire a couple of times now (quieter spots at Hill Head and Keyhaven rather than Bournemouth!).
Social distancing being observed with people windsurfing, paddle boarding, walking and BBQ'ing. All seemed quite normal.
Interestingly, at least three people living in camper vans (with permission) as they cannot return to their homes in Spain and Portugal - one guy has been there for 3 months. I can think of worst places to be!

Thanks for sharing details on how Germany is doing things, Daniel. It sounds like for the most part there is consistency there regarding protocol and social behaviors. Or maybe anti-social behaviors?! :joy: That's certainly not the case in the U.S. And now we've got rioting in the streets--literally as you know, I'm sure--to add to everything else. :(:sob:
