Head spinning after hours of research but have narrowed it down to these options. I live in London, don’t ride in the wet and a mixture of commute and fast weekend blasts. Scale of 1-10 of aggression I’d say I’m a 7. Bike is an 2008 ST3 so no traction or ABS but suspension is well tuned Nitron Rear / K-Tech fettled front. Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Bridgestone Battlax S22 Metzler Sportec M9 Thoughts appreciated on these tyres only - don’t need more options
As you say you don't need more options I thought I would ignore that and give you a couple Because you want to commute as well I would suggest a sports tourer tyre as a full on sports option will flatten out very quickly with your commute so will need changing much earlier Have a look at the Bridgestone T30 evo (were used by Ron Haslams race school) or the BT-023, the only real difference is they have a slightly harder compound in the middle to give you longevity with commuting but the edges are still a soft compound. It's what I use on my Mille and have never had an issue with spirited riding
If I were commuting, I'd use Michelin Road's. I'd like to think, at times I can ride with a bit of pace, and I couldn't tell between Michelin Power and Road's. You will get the benefit of double, or more mileage. Sorry to throw another tyre into the mix
Appreciate these replies but I really don’t want new options. Commuting is about 20% of my use. Narrowed it down to S22 and M9 and leaning toward the M9 as it’s a newer design.
Ive no experience with the s22 but I am on my 2nd set of s21s £200 fitted to loose wheels, they are excellent.
I went with the S22s. They were available quicker and I did 100 miles on them yesterday and it’s night and day to what I had before (five year old mismatched Battlax and Metzler).
If the S21s are anything to go by you’ll love them, I’ve heard that the S22 is really good but they didn’t quite last as long as the S21 but that’s was just one person’s view, keep us informed on how you go with them.
