Yeah the thought had crossed my mind more than once the top one especially wouldn't even need to finish it.
Thanks chiari1 i do have a box of various wood myself but its dwindling down to a lot of bits that are too small so may take you up on that if i cant find something big enough Sound like you may have some Purple heart or Ironwood...my box also has some unidentifiable woods most of it was given to me years ago by a friend Theo Faberge who was the last survivor of the line and still made the eggs sadly passed away a few years back.
A few of the previous ones i have made...not forged I'm afraid just cut and shaped from hard stainless but they do hold an edge but most end up in a display case i just like making them.
My mate at work made this for his father He’s a clever man and only did this one as an experiment Pretty good I think
Sorry missed this...not really into swords although i admire a nice Katana but thanks for the offer mate.
Gots to admit, although the rapier is nice, I agree the broadswords are nicer. I was once stood in the main hall in Edinburgh Castle, looking at a claymore leaning up against the wall, with a 'do not touch' plaque on it. I says to the curator dude, "how big would the user of that be?" and he looks at me, says, "about your size" and hands it over. Lovely balanced blade, about 6 ft long. I was in leathers (went on the GT550) and felt like the Kurgan! Handed it back well pleased. Blow me, Mrs BS was so gobsmacked she forgot to take a photo! Oh well, plenty Chinese tourists did..... I have... A 1914 bayonet, a naval pattern cutlass, as issued to police officers (used in the Stalybridge Mill riots I'm told) two katanas, and a war hammer "at the moment". That is planned to increase...
Only pic I can find, but aforementioned claymore is on lhs, to the left of the window.... On a little plinth, just behind the keep back bollardtapethingummy. Forgot to say, I made the war hammer myself.
