Oil On Rear Fender

I'm with you on that. Shaft or Belt drive has got to be better.

I've just spent an hour or so cleaning the oil fling off the back of my bike (wheel, seat cowl, frame, silencers etc). I obviously over interpreted the instructions on the can that said "ensure all surfaces of the chain are coated". So having now learned that less is more, what's the trick to apply just enough lube?

 

If there is one, I haven't found it in 50 years of motorcycling.

 

I apply to a chain brush and then to chain. If chain is dirty, I use WD40 on a rag to clean

 

They are ok, but you have to be a little careful with them, cause apparently you can damage the chain if you are to aggressive with the brush.....

 

It was one of the tech’s at a local bike repair shop. Said if you are to aggressive you could damage the o-rings. No reason to doubt him.

 

Nope, it was a passing comment in conversation about chain cleaning...

 

I habe a cheap scott oiler ...my chains are running more then 45 T km and I only use cheapest mineralic Chainsaw oil..one Liter 3 Euros.For cleaning a old towel full of engine oil.Works perfekt...is cheap and nearly no oil on wheel and tire.WD40 is agressive to the o ore x rings.
