Good morning all, I know i have a decent amount of time left on my tires but I am not getting a warm fuzzy about finding replacements. The tires that are on it are oem metzeler. I have been digging through the internet and I am having a very hard time finding direct replacements. Just wondering what other t-bird commander owners have done.
I had to replace the rear tyre on mine last year, it went in for service and the dealer said it needed replacement, but they didn't have it in stock, and I couldn't take the bike until it was changed (brill!), so I did manage to find a garage that had one in stock, it's also a metzler, presumably the exact same as came on the bike in the first place. I'd be surprised if you can't get them anymore ... and concerned.
Its a bit concerning. The Metzeler site doesnt have the tires listed anymore. I will have to contact a dealer. Hopefully its easier in the UK. Not looking too promising here in the US

I have a set of Bridgestone Excedras on my 1600 for what it's worth...they work well and I've got good mileage so far from them
Just ordered the new Avon Cobra Chrome tires for the front/rear. These are also the tires the Triumph dealer recommended.
I wound up going with the Michelin commander III tire. They are great tires I would highly recommend them.
Have any of you fellas used a 200/55 instead of the 200/50? Theres several more choices of tire in the 55 profile, and some say the bike actually handles better with the slightly taller tire. But, wouldn't it mess with the gear ratio and the speedometer?
It is certainly a recommended change on my Gen 2 Aprilia Tuono 1000R Edit. I have just had a quick look and the only caveat I would put on this is that almost all of the 200/55 tyres I saw were sports type tyres so wouldn't last very long on a cruiser.
Avon, Michelin, Bridgestone, Dunlop, etc, all make "cruiser/touring" tires in 200/55-17, but only a couple (Avon, for example) offer the 200/50-17. I ordered a set of Avon Cobra Chrome and opted for the 200/55 so hope it works out.
