My Daytona has no spark and blows a 25 amp fuse everytime you turn the key to on. The head lights tail lights and horn work but no spark. It has an electrical ignition module MICRO - MKIV 12 volt . The bike has two coils and both have voltage on them one coil has 12 volts the other 6. The coils are labeled 6 volts and they are in series. Any and all help appreciated!!!
Twin 6 volt coils are correct for boyer EI and battery should be positive earth, electrics are not my strong point but it sounds like a live wire is going to earth if fuse is blowing.
I would start with checking the ignition switch and its associated wiring and go from there...and by the sound of it you have a one faulty coil.
Not an expert on the early stuff mind you. I had a similar experience.a.few.years.back.though. Mine.would.blow its main fuse and shut the bike down intermittently. I found a crack in the.insulation in the wire from the main fuse to the kill switch. It was right where that wire bends when the handle bars are turmed. It would short out on the steering head from time to time. I would suspect some.issue between the main fuse and the key. Happy hunting ...J.D.
