That does look useful. Both the Speedmaster and the VStrom have spoked wheels and it’s a real pain in the bottom attaching a pump.
Good point, but it don’t apply to me! As my tyre pressures (According to the handbook) are pretty critical...36.25 lbs & 39.160 front & rear respectively I just blow ‘em up to the next nearest full lb. Spokes as well, so I know sometimes I’ll (If they let us ride again*) be riding with lower pressure than reccommened. * looking at some clarification on Govt. guidelines on driving....Its okay to drive quite a long distance if you exercise for longer than the drive once you get there, so, does that apply to m/Cycles? Wouldn't the pressure in the tyre remain the same once the valve extension is removed? Yes, but you'd also be losing the extension tube itself, therefore the volume is less, so less air is needed to get the same pressure. The pressure in the tyre would stay the same.
That’s the best advice I’ve had since lockdown, with bmw (Lower case) specifying the pressures down to decimal points, you can never be too careful! Cheers,Ken.
Ken, bmw have just taken exact conversions of bars to psi. 36.25 psi = 2.5 bars, 39.16 psi = 2.7 bars.
So if you fill your tyres with helium which is lighter do you need to put a higher pressure in to get the right amount of air in there? What's the conversion factor? If you use a long extension that might remove enough to make it correct.
I just fill mine with lead. Won’t leak and helps with lowering the center of gravity. The extra weight allows my mates riding Hardleys to keep up, almost.
Dry nitrogen is the preferred choice if you're tire temps exceed 250 f. Moisture (steam) can play havic. Recommend tire pressure Is a baseline only.. most tire pressure gauges only only 10% acurate
