We did a major European tour on my Thunderbird 1600 last summer ..two up and loaded with luggage... A great bike for this trip... comfortable and quick enough with a decent fuel range. I'll see if I can do the tech stuff, and upload a photo
Just to add my two penn'orth. Bought a Tiger 800 beginning of last year for touring, part ex'd my 2015 Bonnie for it. Did about 5,000 miles, more or less all done touring (I had a Speed Triple RS as well) Only thing I can really find wrong is I couldn't get on with the seat over 100 miles. It seems that some people have no problem with the it, but other just can't get on with it. I've tried everything, coolcovers, air hawk etc and have just bit the bullet and bought a Sargeant seat in the hope that it'll cure the problem. But it is literally the only thing to sort out and £300 was a lot less than changing the bike.
Covered over 400 miles in one day on the way back from last years Scottish Road Trip. Just toilet & fuel stops every 150 miles. Cruising around 80 mph. The seat on the R is surprisingly comfy
Fair play @Ken walburn . Don’t think I would want to do that on mine. I guess a couple of hundred miles would not be a bad days run for me.
Interesting...I'm still swaying between tiger and Bonneville twin, although would be the 900 GT if I go for a Tiger. Be interested to know how you get on with the Sargeant seat
