How old were the gators and were they Triumph?, I paint a very thin coat of ACF50 on mine in the hope that it prolongs the life of them as I had gators on my Sportster that split after 2 yrs.
Got the Daytona 1000 in bits again, putting a newer loom on it so you can imagine the mess. Had enough of issues & tracing wires so bit the bullet plus do some other little jobs to it....Cant go anywhere so why not
@Duckadiledundee your time will come. I never do much more than a quick wash on mine, yet today spent hours on it. Switched it on, wheeled it out the garage, pretended I was going somewhere. Sad really
The best stuff I’ve used on rubber is Gummi Pflege. It conditions rubber and stops it from drying out and cracking. https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1676147219...N9FqE0yqQ1wDvO-uc-PmC5wTEX4AA90BoCEq8QAvD_BwE I’ve used it on bike bits as well as the door seals on my car and don’t get cracked or sticking seals. Maybe it’ll help on your gaiters?
Just saying....I too wheeled my bike out today and started for no other reason than I felt I simply had to... I miss it.
I buyed some rare Oldtimer-parts from ebay....first want to take the car...but it was fantastic weather today and no traffic on the streets...so my good ST gots fire for 500km..3 hours 25 minutes and now I opened a beer...cheers good old ST!
More cleaning today and warm up engine along with a ride up n down the lane to throw some oil around engine n box. Your not alone, and matter are made worse as so many bikes today have a mix of yearly parts :-( persistence is the only forward option
Got to ride the Daytona Not working today so doing another Blood Bike shift - and had to ride my bike to collect vehicle I'm using. Will get to ride it back later too Glad to report all my recent work appears to have paid off and it's running sweet as a nut - can't wait until I can try it on some decent roads and do some trackdays.
