I took these in the Cold Pits at the 2007 Monterey Historic Races. I will post more of these as long as the thread is active, but I have to convert them to jpg one at a time: Here we have a Cadillac-Allard, a Alpha-Romeo and a Porsche Spyder . All flawless and running in the event. ...J.D.

1976 - 1978? I rode a 125cc bike like that once and compared to my 1979 YZ-125 motocross bike that thing had a powerband of about 150 RPM, full throttle or nothing. Notice I said I rode it once, that is because I never wanted to ride it again.

Yep rode a friends highly modified ktm like that with the 150 rpm powerband. Nada, nada, nada, holy crap. It changed hands many times before he bought it, he couldn't effectively ride it, I couldn't effectively ride it. Great Dyno results though.

The 500’s weren’t much better which makes the riders of the two stroke era more my hero’s than today’s MotoGP aces ( though I still gaze in awe at what they can do). Doohan for example used to drain away some excess torque by riding the clutch slightly on the way into the corner and then holding back full throttle with his thumb operated rear brake on the way out. His left hand was very busy during races unlike today’s riders.

    I think it was a 1980 definitely a G model.

You may have missed a zero “0” off your 150 RPM mate.

It had a very narrow power band of 1500 RPM, 10500-1200 RPM.

Tried many things to lower and widen the p/b, modifying the exhaust, totally different make of exhaust, different electronics, engine porting etc all to no avail or very little gain.

The equivalent Honda had a much lower and wider p/b and would drive out of corners far better especially on some of the tight circuits used for club racing in the UK.

I remember John a very good racer, he had many wins at Oulton and Aintree that I can remember.

Have no pictures in my collection but may be a program or two with his name in.

A few from Superbike races at Road America, 1993. Two of the greats in the business, Rob Muzzy and Eraldo Ferracci (Fast by Ferracci). In 1993, Muzzy Kawasaki won the Superbike Championship. Good times, then..
