Hello all, looking on E bay today to buy a genuine triumph oil filter for my 2011 Bonneville, no problems there, how ever I did see K&N oil filters for only another couple of pounds more. Ive been lead to believe that K&N filters are far superior than other filters. What do you all think??? only asking because I only like the best for my bike. Thanks all Mallywoods. OK just read through the previous threads on this matter, it would appear that K&N filters do have there flaws. I will stick to the Triumph genuine filter.
I seem to remember not too long ago that people had issues and K&N had to recall some of their oil filters I have always used Triumph oil filters, but I do use a K&N air filter on my Bonneville.
I reached out to K&N asking about their KN-204 filter. They followed up with recall information - https://www.knfilters.com/recallkn204
Only thing K&N has that is superior is an excellent marketing scheme. Stick with the original or a good filter supplier as found in a motorcycle shop. ...J.D.
Oddly enough I have used K&N for years, both oil and air filters on a number of different bikes. Never had an issue. That said, I went with the Triumph filter.
My question to their Tech was specifically about the KN-204 and compatibility with my '20 Street Triple. They only replied with the recall information. It felt like it was an automated reply because they didn't address any other questions and they currently sell a KN-204-1 on their website. The batch of filters under recall were produced in 2016 and have a specific code on them. Best to submit your question to K&N to be sure about your KN-138 filters.
