Hi all, I"m Hubert, 50 years old french guy living in Savoie, french Alps. I was younger, grown up in Le Mans, and had the chance to watch lots of races as a teenager. Younger, with my wife we travelled on our trusty BMW K100 LT, then life goes on, kids, etc.. It's now time to ride again, I bought a Yamaha FZX 2 years ago, and my wife and I would like to travel again. The FZX is perfect to ride again after a long period without bike, but it's not a traveller. I will not buy a BMW again, too expensive, not sexy at all, and I already rode 200 000 kilometres on those. I don' t have a big budget for the bike, and browsing the second hand bikes, I bumped on the ST 955 that are in my prices. The bike looks stunning, and the sport touring balance is appealing. The side cases are aesthetic, and the weight is ok. I never had a 3 cylinders bike, and I've heard a lot about. It's time to cross the path and buy one. I exclude Tigers, I'm too short. I exclude the Trophy 1200, too heavy, If I can see a 900 I could check, but the ST looks way better to me. And I suppose some bar raiser can improve the position confort. So, as the lockdown stops, I'll chase my first Triumph ! Sorry if my english writing is somehow erratic, it's not my native language. Cheers
For the English; Hello and welcome to the forum, Don't worry about language, this is what Google Translate is for! The 955 ST is a very good bike, it is capable of back road fun but also for touring with luggage and a passenger. I rode to France on mine with my wife on the back and enough luggage for a week.
Thanks for the warm welcome! Well google translate will not help me to improve my english skills, so I'll go on searching in my school memories to share with you. I guess for specific questions on the ST 955 I have to go and post them in the appropriate area.
I've spotted a nice 2004 ST 955 with a little 40 000 km (25 000 Miles), with a clear history. As this lockdown is over I'll go and see the bike. I guess 2004 was the last year of production?
Honored about all efforts made to write in french ! That make me think about "the ministry of silly walk" sketch, were at the end they have a long "french" dialog.
