Had this old 675 seat unit etc for a while and popped it on, looks a lit tle too long. Not to sure I like it over the stumpy one. I think the stumpy one just needs to be made a little longer. Will have to make a mock up one in cardboard and see how it looks. Why do the pics keep splitting the wording when I upload them ?
I like the stumpy personally but if you extended it and re shaped it'd be totally your own then. I like the seats to end about 50% over the back wheel normally so it gives the sleek aggressive look. Plus I don't pillions. Be a head spinner this time as I'm keeping the original trophy seat set up. Your bikes mint, make it a complete one off
I agree with seat length my previous bike had the end of tail unit level with rear axle bolt. Reshaping is another way forward with perhaps a little length added to seat rear and slight amount to rear bit although not to much as would lose stumpy look. Could even make the actual seat bit out of aluminium rather then the steel it is now.Cardboard cutting time me thinks.
Have had a good think and although stumpy seat looks good it doesn`t provide for Oxford heritage panniers or tail bag. This bike is going to be used for touring etc so need the ability to carry luggage. Perhaps could make a subframe for stumpy so can unbolt 675 one and bolt on stumpy or at a later date buy another Triumph and use stumpy seat on thet. Something like a Speed Triple with single sider would look good with stumpy seat. So pic below or in middle of text is how will look. Just got to sort headlight etc
Old style twin headlight fairing or this p700 with centre tripod looks oldskool. Also should have enough space for all the wiring to go. I`m going to shorten and solder wires but still have some left to hide, see how it goes. I am erring towards the P700 as this gives classic style. Also have zxr 750 twin headlights so might attempt to make my own fairing, like the idea of twin HID lights, to allow sat nav etc to be mounted behind it
