Afternoon good people. Don't worry...I washed my hands before signing in.... Some help or pointers if possible... 2002 Speed Triple 955i Was commuting in traffic this morning, bike running all ok...but I noticed that when stationary and it got warm the revs died for a half second before coming back... Then noticed it do it again at 103°C when the fan kicked in. Only this time it dies completely (stalled). Restarted fine.... As I came to stand still again and fan kicked in at 103....it did it again (stalled)... So...something electrical, and related to the fan kicking in I am looking for any pointers or diagnostic route to head down...? What other information could I give you to help me..!? Battery is new (last summer) motobat. battery No other electrical issues that I've noticed (the windows work fine )
Could be a variety of issues, not necessarily electrical. What revs does your bike idle at? Has it got a standard map? Have the throttle bodies been balanced recently? I ask these things because the standard map is notoriously lean at idle and it only needs to be a little out of tune to be prone to stalling. A load surge from the fan starting etc could just drop the revs enough to stall
Thank you freck. Idles at just over 1000rpm. My understanding is the map is 'standard'. I do not believe the throttle bodies have been balanced...is this a DIY job?
Idle speed should be 1100rpm though a little higher is beneficial. Throttle balancing is a DIY job but as with most things you’ll need some specialist tools and a modicum of knowledge. Have you got Tuneecu for your bike? There’s quite a few threads on the subject around the forum and the wider net; it’d be worth doing a bit of research if you want to give it a bash yourself
