I couldn’t be more happy with my Speedmaster mileage on Avon Cobras. The Avon cobra AV72 150/80/16 Rear finally needed changing after my recent 2000km trip away. over 17,200km of hard riding. You can see I needed to book in my service on my return as well new replacement Avon cobra chrome AV92 radial
They look well squared off, bet you notice a big difference in corner turn in with the new ones On my Speedmaster, I changed the original Avon Cobra's, front and rear, after 7,000 miles (10,000km); the rear was already past it's 2mm thread wear limit so reckon it should have been changed at 6,000 miles. Next rear only lasted 5,000 miles and I've now changed tyre pressure gauge and am a bit more diligent in keeping the pressure at least up to spec. (I reckon low pressure is why I wasn't getting the mileage). The new AV92 rear seams to be wearing at just under 1mm per 1,000 miles, so that's a life of about 7,000 miles I reckon. My second AV71 front is due replacement now, it's done 9,000 miles.
Definitely feels safer on corners and at speed. I agree tyre pressure is extremely important and a pet check of mine for each of our 2 monthly rides. On a course, the instructor showed 40% are very low and another 20% were low (most people). 10,000miles is definitely high, so think 8,000 is good
I've changed from OEM Bridgestones to Avon Roadrider 2 (the only one fitting the older T100s). My previous three bikes were all on Avon Rubber (Super Venoms).
Well it was time to do the front tyre. Still had marginal tread, but had been moving a bit in the wet on tight corners, so R16MT90AVAV71 were selected. Very happy with 21,131km.
