Took Stella out today for a second ride, getting to grips with her heft, found low speed a tad lumpy, hoping she'll settle after a few more miles, keeping under 4000 rpm till running in over.

Did you FreeSpirits or Westlake H pipe it, both flipin expensive for a length of bent pipe. That said the Motone X-pipe was the best mod I done on my Street Twin. Not sure the Scrambler sound will improve as much as the Streets did

Today I took my Bonneville Speedmaster to the dealers so they could refit the rear shock they replaced under warranty last week; this time the correct way up  and with the front mounting bolt going through in the direction you would expect if the correct procedure was followed for setting the 'threaded adjuster' in the frame, oh, and the ugly yellow warning label facing down so it's not visible. (Label is about safe disposal, not a warning we need to see when mounted on bike.)

For the past week I had managed to get quite stressed thinking about all the bad things that might have happened to bike whilst riding with it incorrectly fitted, so when the (different) technician was working on the bike I was there to set my mind at rest. We used calipers to measure the width of the bushes at both ends, and verified they are the same width (so I know frame and swingarm mounting points weren't splayed or pinched). I also took magnifying glass to bushes and seals and felt frame and verified no unusual wear. So, I'm finally happy things are as they should be and can enjoy riding my bike again, once this bad weather passes that is :)

fittted the thruxton/newchurch style accessory gel seat to the bonnie, looks ok but only a ride out will tell if it is more comfortable than the stock seat. I also wanted to change the rack for the grab rail but I could not get two of the bolts undone

I had another go and managed to get the two recalcitrant bolts off and swapped the rack for the grab rail, yippee

Had a bit clear out in my garage today and found the speed twin stock exhaust still boxed from the dealers. They are brand new. Anybody interested in them drop me a pm....

Fitted the new rear brake reservoir, much better looking and more discreet IMO...
