Only two of them left now. It brought a tear to the eye watching the news this morning, so brave at such a young age.
A lot more than a brave man has died here. Endless thanks and deepest respect for what you and similar others have done for me and many many others. RIP Oldfart
When you consider these men only had a life expectancy of 4 weeks during the Battle of Britain, it is incredible the immense courage they posessed to continually get in their planes and face that potential sacifice. RIP Wing Commander Farnes.
As usual the stats only tell part of the story. Much as with motorcycling, inexperience can be expensively bought. All forms of combat work like that.

I reckon there are many young people serving across the armed forces today that are and would be prepared to do they duty if called.
Since I left the army in 1974 I have often heard this said about standards. My guess is that many of the changes that have been implemented us old farts would consider a lowering of standards in terms of the quality of recruits and therefore serving soldier’s. Maybe it is just different times to when we were serving.
Paul Farnes. Rest in peace my brother. Heaven awaits you. Thanks for the gift of freedom you bestowed on me. RIP JOE.
