Has anyone had fitted a fly screen, i have noticed a company called Dart manufacture them, anyone using one and do they reduce the buffering
Hi I fitted a dart classic to my speed twin. Very happy with the quality and looks. I don’t think it gives much protection except moves the wind buffering a bit higher. It does keep the clocks etc nice and clean though
I fitted the Thruxton screen, a bit smaller than the dart. Doesn’t really do anything in my opinion, I mainly wanted it for the look and to keep the back of the dials clean.
I also have the Dart. Very well made, easy to mount, and it does move the air upwards a bit at speed.
Thank you for the replies lads, we are possibly doing the NC500 this year with a couple of mates. and a screen is a must i would say as the start of the journey is a hike up the A1 to Inverness.
Fly screens don't offer much wind protection at speed. I suggest a long haul screen. See mine on my Street Twin.
Jeepster here. One of the first goodies I purchased for my Speed Twin was a Dart "Marlin" fly screen. Its a little taller and curves more then the other Dart screens. It cuts enormous amounts of wind for such a little thing. No more buffeting. It also cuts the glare off my instruments. Now i can cruise along 70 to 100 in comfort.
I had a decent ride out today, first proper ride on my Speed Twin (did 100 miles around the Yorkshire Dales) since I bought it just before lock down came into effect. Absolutely love riding it but after riding my Tiger 800 at 70-90, the helmet lift and buffeting was a bit hard work. I think I’ll be getting one of the Marlin screens, I think it looks the part and if it helps reduce any buffeting then it’ll be ideal.
