Ah yes. Apple butter now there’s a strange one, is it the same as jersey black butter?
And you’ve never had peanut butter and jelly? That was always in my jetsons lunch box when I went to school in Virginia beach

 

Ah I forgot! But doesn’t he get the full carers allowance? He keeps that quiet

Ah, crispey, I've had more PB&J sandwiches in my lifetime "than you can shake a stick at" as my mom used to say. And they were pretty much always grape jelly and smooth peanut butter on white bread. And the white bread was usually Wonder Bread unless my folks found something (even) cheaper than that.

My mom introduced me to something she had as a kid which I now can't quite believe. She'd eat white bread slathered with butter then topped with copious amounts of sugar. Yikes! But then I suspect the apple fritters that I love so much have even more sugar and fat than a piece of sugar and butter bread.

 

Sugar sandwiches were a thing here too Sandi. My dad used to make them for me when my mum wasn't looking!

PAH!!! tha dunt want any o that southern rubbish! This is what we use in South Yorkshire, and especially Sheffield. It's an absolute institution up here, and we swear by it, in stews, pies, hash and pancakes, on chips, crisps and loads of other stuff. When I was int Navy, I was allus takin bottoles of it back to Portsmouth for all t'yorkshire lads who lived down there.

 

Brilliant stuff! Used to get loads of this when my daughter was at Sheffield university.

 

Then a good sprinkling of salt on top !

 

Never heard of that or seen it. I'll look out for some next time I'm down your neck of the woods. Is it sold in local supermarkets ?
