Your bike looks great! I have been thinking about a windshield, luggage rack and panniers. I would like a windshield that is easily removable - almost "snap on/ off" - but the Triumph dealer said that their touring shield needs tools but it is easy to put on/ take off. I also worry about the weight of luggage racks. Did you go for Triump accessories? Thanks a lot!
Thanks. I went for Triumph accessories, and yes at higher cost. The quality is good and my opinion is that they also look quite good on the bike. My experience with typical after market accessories is that while functional they don't always look all that great. The long haul wind screen is intended to be permanently mounted. It is not a quick on/off design. I never take mine off. But it does a good job for me (I'm 5'-10") preventing wind on my torso. I can ride at freeway speeds comfortably. I don't recommend a small fly screen. Can look great but no real ride protection. The panniers w/ stuff inside doesn't really add much weight as far as bike control is concerned. Bike handling is fine w/ the panniers. The panniers themselves come off and on easily, but the pannier mounts are bolted to the bike frame. The luggage rack is also handy as I can carry additional stuff if needed that does not fit in the panniers.
Great advice, thanks. I like Triumph original accessories and will probably also pay the premium! I just don't want to spend 50% of the purchase price again! I have to prioritise because I think I want to upgrade the front brakes.
Concerning brakes, I installed EBC HH fully sintered brake pads front and rear. (Did not change calipers). I believe the stock pads are a semi-sintered type. Brake performance has improved and the pads were only around $35 US so not too expensive. You might try that first to see what you think. Just a suggestion.
