Hi guys, Having found the exact rear sets that I want ...... it now appears that Gilles only make Speed triple rear sets up to 2010 !!!!! argh !!!! Question : can you fit 2010 rear sets onto a 2012 R ? .. is there that much difference in the connectors and linkage from 2010 to 2012 ? Greatly appreciate all thoughts ! advice ! idea's ....
Hi Stick. Can't answer your question directly but see if the pic helps - I have the Gilles ones on my 2007 SIII. They are quite sweet:
I believe the seat height on the Speed Triple is pretty similar to that of the Fireblade & the Aprilia Mille so touching the floor wouldnt be a problem.... But having said that why would i even want to sit on a Bandit replica???
I think you banged the nail on the head there byrbrem.... The Bandit replica (Speed Triple) is less of a pose than the Harley replica (Triumph America), i knew you would come round to my way of thinking eventually. View attachment 824 Now we just need to work on the rest of them.
The difference, I suppose between cruiser and SIII riders - we do it for the love of riding, not for the pose. Just my opinion, you understand, but if what you want from owning a bike is the pose value, then enjoy, weirdo.
Unlike the SIII riders, the cruiser riders are able to tick both boxes. Just saying View attachment 825
Fair comment, really fair comment. However, I have no satin carbon on mine! (OK, some lovely Gilles rearsets, and a tail tidy and a seat cowl and an Arrow 3:1 and some fat black bars and some stubby black and gold levers - but they're all practical additions and not for the pose).
Satin carbon...ouch. So hurtful.... Mine came with a load of satin carbon from new... But satin CF is no different chrome in as much as we're all trying to personalise our bikes and make them stand out from the norm.... Custom paint, different bars, wheels, pegs or levers... All bling to personalise your bike, make it standout and possibly pose..... I like it when people look, stare or even ask about the bike.. It's why I went for the limited edition... Pose value...
Actually Its lighter than the OEM plastic that comes on them...... For the 500 Ive probably spent, I reckon ive saved about a stick of chewing gum in weight.... Pound for pound bargain... Nothing to do with looks..... Really.... And before you start, Id rather take the weight off my bike before i diet..... Low center of mass remember!!:upyeah:
Nice... I think I would rather spend £400+ on a quick shifter... But that's just me....love a gadget, never had rear sets or felt that I need to be more cramped...
To be fair the Gilles ones set on their highest, furthest back setting felt just like the standard pegs - but look waaaaayyy cooler!
Can't argue that....do look cooler...and I can't argue abou wasting money on items to make a bike look cooler/ better..
