Very good they were when I had my Suzi GS1000 Not so hot with Triumph though :). Q`s do you know best jetting for Trophy 1200 with pods? Ans = Buy a Dynojet kit and good luck ( from Ray :sob:) I think safe to say they specialise in the Japanese Old Skool Aircooled era Not the modern (???) 1998 era ;). They do know their stuff tough, as I say, when had GS they were great help

Arse end fitted, now just got to get R1 wheel aligned. Fingers crossed my heath robinson way will work as to wheel alignment to frame. Might have to remove tyre to get centre line of wheel to centre of frame. Will check chain line when have more light to see by All part of the fun IMGP6373.JPG IMGP6368.JPG

Lucky to have a landlord that has let me have a garage to use or else would be in same boat
Learning a bit myself along the way. Don`t know if have right wheel choice as one side of R1 wheel has needle roller bearings instead of standadrd wheel bearing.
Might be difficult to match up to thinner legend axle. have thought of using sleeve over axle to make up diameter difference through whole wheel. Be interesting to see if it pans out. Might be better to get Suzuki SRAD wheel or similar

We shall see but if you see a Trophy going along with sparks flying off the swinger you know I may have made a mistake ;)

Got all the parts now to fit R1 wheel, brake caliper mount. Just waiting for funds to get myself a chop saw to cut the wheel spacers etc accurately, I`ve always been at the back of the que when it comes to sawing in straight lines. Got to make subframe etc so will come in handy to cut ends of tubes to intersect with others. Also like to get a DC Tig welder so can bronze the metal together but that might be a bit ambtious funds wise. I`ve sent me letter to Santa so everyone keep their fingers crossed and I have been good all year, honestly

Toying with idea of ditching air filter pods in favour of using half the airbox with panel filter. is this a good idea? What are peoples experiences ? Do you still have to rejet or are carbs left standard ? Pic Modified-Airbox-Mounted.jpg isn`t my bike just to show what I mean

I've spoken with Ian at CRK ref the same. They do a couple of kits but the least hastle one they do is a 4 into 1 foam filter. Will need re jetting.

Also do the single cones and another option but he suggested dyno time to get the set up spot on.

I used the Dual cone kit on mine from GSXR 1100. They just about fit with a bit of manipulation

Starting to realise when you see most triumph specials they all seem to use standard rear wheel. Just finished spacer tube to match legend rear axle to R1 wheel bearings. Though all was going well as spacer fitted wheel spacers only to try it through wheel bearings and spacer tube is just over 28mm od and beaings are just below 28mm id. So won`t fit without getting it machined. Haven`t got machining facilities and no funds to get it done. I always did like the standard Trophy rear wheel .......honestly Guvnor
Trouble is compared to the R1 wheel the Trophy rear weighs a tonne. Could be to do with Trophy tyre desigend to take weight of fully loaaded bike and R1 is a road race light weight tyre . As we say like to say in UK `Bollox` and have a cuppa

Another option is to fit the r1 4C8 swinger etc as in this pic but that maked bike longer and involves machining of inside of left frame swing arm pivot area to move swinger across about 10mm to get chain alignment. Also boring out pivot to match R1 pivot axle or another sleeve to match trophy pivot to R1. Then top and lower suspension mounts . Does look good though. Still in no rush to get it finished IMGP6285.JPG IMGP6288.JPG

Like all bikers when work slows we do the sad things. So i weighed Trophy wheel and R1 wheel with sprocket carrier and disc Trophy = 20.1 KG and the R1 weighs near spot on 14 kg a saving of approx 6 kg in un sprung weight which`ll give the suspension an easier time. I Know I know I`ve got far to much time on my hands. Just got to figure out how to fit the bloody thing now :)

Put Trophy wheel back in and going to have to wait till can afford to do the machining. Fancy getting myself a little lathe and doing it myself. Could be a while till get rear sorted so moth balling the old girl till can get it done. Not done any lathe work since school so should be interesting IMGP6515.JPG IMGP6518.JPG IMGP6519.JPG

That rear looks mint. Patience is a virtue as my dad keeps telling me. Pretty sure yours will look mint anyway. Keep changing my mind on mine o_O

Very true, sometimes when you rush things you end up not doing what you want. So will take time and get it right. Anyway if it was quick and easy it would be boring, intend taking my time and enjoying it :)
