TFC= "Custom" bike for musicians and accountants. Triumph is making the same mistakes that has put Harley-Davidson in the tank. ...J.D.
Kind of what happens when a company hires marketing pinheads ! "Let's see. If we build something of limited appeal, charge too much for it, and tool up for only a limit quanity, we should sell them like hotcakes on Sunday !" ...Gee, what could go wrong ? ...J.D.
Not sure why you would want to put a bike down or a group of people who may or may not want to buy one. You don't have to buy it if it doesn't suit you. It's not my cup of tea either but fair play to anyone who likes it and I'll talk to anyone on two wheels without prejudgement on the sort of bike they ride. I do think the Union Jack on the tank is one flag too many but that's just personal taste.
Here’s what gets me about some people. Who cares! what’s the big deal if triumph made a TFC Bobber with carbon fiber, Öhlins, brembo, arrow etc? Your triumph bobber is cheating as well. “Real bobbers of yesteryear” were built not bought. Yes even yours is bought. You didn’t cut the frame or build anything, sure you may of changed a few things, but you and the people that criticize people that like or want the TFC Bobber are no different. You’re not a bike builder or customizer, you’re a bike buyer.
I agree, and the critcism of the Bobber not being a real Bobber is just daft, as its just a bike design inspired by bobbers of the past, in the same way the Thruxton is inspired by cafe racers of the past, and just about every sport bike is inspired by race bikes, and then some riders also wear helmets and race suits etc that are "pretending" to be like those of actual racers. I wear an Agostini replica helmet, not for any desire to be Agostini (wish I could ride like him), but just because I like the way it looks and fits. I ride a Hinckley Bonneville, which surely is not a "real" Bonneville, but I love it. Would I buy a TFC Bobber...No, as aesthetically it doesn't appeal to me, but I did have a standard Bobber which I think is much better looking than the TFC, and I would love to have another one as its a great riding and great looking bike.
There are those that can and enjoy revovering/restoring or modifying motorbikes. There are those who are not interested or even capable of recovering/restoring or modifying motorbikes. The one think they all have in common is that they enjoy riding motorcycles. For me in doesn't matter in which camp you fall, you are still a biker in my mind.
You too can have a custom bike....just the same as everyone else's. verb (used with object), cus·tom·ized, cus·tom·iz·ing. to modify or build according to individual or personal specifications or preference:
There really is nothing new here.............Car and bike manufacturers have been doing this for years so it's certainly not specific to Triumph The simple solution is if you want one buy it, if you don't then don't but there is no reason to slag someone off just because they want to buy one and you don't
