Theoretically it's possible but it's a mountain of work and expense - and in any case, why would you want to? What would you be hoping to achieve?
Thanks, well I'm creating a bobber with my Bonneville and want as little I'm using my Bonneville as a donor bike for a bobber and want as little as possible on it, so I'm doing away with the airbox and what ever the hell that breather system under the tank is and thought it might be as well to kinda strip the electrics on the motor side of it and rewire
The problem is that a 2010 ECU-equipped bike is fuel injected, so how would you plan to operate the injectors without an ECU and it's associated MAP and temp sensors. However, it is possible to clean up the engine a fair bit and still have it running with an ECU. For example: 1. You can fully remove the airbox and run with pods,so long as you retain the temp sensor that is currently on the RHS of the airbox. Most peeps merely fix it between the 'faux' carbs. 2. If you remove the airbox I think you will remove where the battery and the ECU currently sit, so you'll need to fab something for them; 3. The plumbing that you see under the tank that goes to each cylinder head is called the Air Injection system and can be completely removed -you just need to tell the ECU you've done this - very straightforward to do.
