Last week I contacted https://www.luimoto.com/ to have a custom seat cover made for the RS. I’ve never liked the scratchy, slippery cover on the RS. The foam has proven to be very comfortable though for all day rides. So after seeing you-tubers like Lamb Chops Rides, 650ib and Jared Campisi, among many others having Luimoto make seat covers for their bikes, I thought I would check them out. I gave them a call and after some discussions on design and materials they created this cover for me. The top material is alcantara suede for a less slippery and luxurious feel. Also, I have to say they have been top notch to deal with as well. Every step of the way through their manufacturing process I would receive an email update, who does that? Anyway, I’ve taken a few photos for you guy’s, but I still have to take the oem cover off and staple the new cover on. So the photo with the cover on has just been slipped over the seat so you get the idea. Once I’ve stapled the new cover on I’ll update with new photos. You’ll notice a gold gel pad in the box as well, that’s for my brothers GSXS-1000. Initially I’m very impressed with the product, as they use the finest fabrics and they are hand stitched here in Canada. Even the packaging is impressive. Onto the photos.

Staples are out. Tomorrow hopefully I can install the cover at my brothers, he has an air staple gun that should do the trick.

For my previous Honda CB1000R I had two sets of seats, factory and aftermarket Alcantarra.
For looks and comfort the Alcantarra won every time IMHO but if rain was involved it was a bit of a pain. Once wet and wearing bike jeans you spent the next few hours blotting the water up with your pants

    Otherwise a good choice ;)

I think so as well. I really like how everything is in-house from design to the end product. In person it’s really a nice piece of work.

All done. Took about 45 minutes to complete. It was really easy actually. I was told by the company that they are manufactured to fit like a glove and require less experience to install. FYI the seat is sitting up a little, as it is resting on the two back bolts. Anyway, on to the photos.

Great photos and informational writeup on the Luimoto seat cover for the RS, Steve! Thank you.

I have a couple of questions. You said the seat seems like it's "sitting up a little". Do you mean just in the back? Or is it taller/higher overall? I have Triumph's "Low Seat" on my RS which dropped the height about one inch. That helped me out enough that I'm not keen on my seat being taller again. Hmmm. Your thoughts?

My other question is whether the folks at Luimoto offer just installing their cover for you if you ship them the seat. I'm not too, shall we say, "mechanically inclined", though I do have riding buddies who are.

    Hi Sandi,

Thank you. Sorry I guess I didn’t explain myself properly. The seat cover doesn’t change the height of the seat at all. I store my bike without the seat on it, and I put the two bolts that hold the rear part of the seat down back into the holes so I don’t loose them. For the photos I didn’t take out the bolts, I just sat the seat on top of them. This makes the seat sit up a little higher. That’s all I meant, sorry for any confusion.

As far as having Luimoto install the seat cover, that is a service they provide for $20 Canadian. It would probably be much cheaper to have a local upholstery shop put it on for you, that way you would save shipping the seat both ways. Just a thought.

Thanks for both the clarification and for the info & suggestion, Steve. :) Looking forward to hearing what you think of the seat upgrade when you get it out on the road for a ride!

I’m looking forward to that as well Sandi. From just sitting on the seat it feels more luxurious and far less slippery, so it should prove to be a valuable upgrade.
