Ahhh, the years just post H-D's AMF years. Ugh. Well, '82 and '84 is a long time ago. I'm glad that I'm not judged today by how and who I was 35 years ago! If my Harleys were as unreliable as people think they (still) are or how unreliable they actually used to be, I wouldn't own them. I don't know how to wrench on my own bikes and so having an unreliable bike would really be a problem. As it stands today, I've owned Harleys since 2010 and have only had a couple of warranty issues with only one of those being an engine issue. And that one was pretty minor and what's considered a "service bulletin" (recommended fix) vs. a recall.
Sandi T; Why don’t you get your friend to connect with this forum, then, we can all share his experiences with said motorcycle? Thanking you,Ken.
Repooh Both great bikes. That YouTube video was a bit uninspiring. I love my Triumph and have owned two America's and one Speedmaster over the years. I have also owned four Harleys and loved them. My choice was the wide glides and I really had to force myself to come home as I just loved that engine and I never had a problem with any of the later one my 81 Sturgis was a night mare not engine it just kept snapping chains but did growl. Don't get Ron to test them for you. But if it is in your heart you owe it to your self to be happy and which ever bike does that then it's a good thing. Do let us know your direction. Regards Joe.
I think you should all go to SpecSavers... Me too probably as I have a Tiger 800! Uglier things have been seen, but not by reliable witnesses* Edit: *I stole that joke from Douglas Adams RIP (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy).
I wonder how one of those would fair out.here in the Mojave Desert. Last year I recorded a high temp. of 117°f. on my weather station. It was snowing earlier this week. ...J.D.
I live in the Sonoran Desert in Arizona and have ridden both of my Harleys and my Triumph Speed Triple during the summer in 110ºF + temperatures. All three performed like champs with no problems whatsoever. About the coldest weather I've ridden my bikes in is in the 20'sºF. That's not because of the bikes--that's because of me. I'm not riding if it's any colder than that!
