Oh my, I'm in love with another, and yes its a Harley, just look at this. Wowser, not seen a bad review, all I need now is a a bucket of money. A 300 mile test ride has been discussed for the spring. The panniers and fairing come off to make it look like a Fat Boy (ish). Never know my GMU may be on a fat blokes yanky doodle 1748cc barge. Most likely still be on good old Edna the awesome (see I'm embracing Americanisms already) Street Twin. Yee ha partners I blame the friggin weather, not ridden for weeks and weeks, spent a shit load on-line on bits I don’t need and keep dropping into motorbike dealers. p.s if you see the current Mrs Repooh, this bike is 5 grand ish, okay brothers. @Scampey don't even think of blackmail, I still have the pictures of you and Gary Glitter at his house party back in 80's, you know the one where you claim red wine gave you a bad bum, riiiiight
Remember it is easier to seek forgiveness than get permission! And if she stills moans, ask if she'd prefer if you had one woman and several bikes or several women and one bike?
Judd, you’re at the start of your romance, after 40 years I get nothing other than moaning im sure if I asked my wife the questions you suggest she would rather I buggered off, which sounds like a good plan to me
Thank you chaps for your unbiased, informative views, many based on personal experience I’m sure i will test ride along with a Speedmaster which at £4,000 less is compelling as me dear old mum would say “ You dont know if You want a shit or a haircut” she was a poet
Ok, Repooh. You posted a photo of a Harley-Davidson Sport Glide on a Triumph forum. And not just any Triumph forum. This one. So the responding posts aren't that unexpected. However, I shall provide another point of view. Yeah, surprising, I know. But perhaps a bit less, shall we say, charged with emotional bias (against Harleys). Your comment "i will test ride along with a Speedmaster which at £4,000 less is compelling" was the most rational and unbiased comment so far in this thread. And I have the utmost respect (even reverence?!) for those who have chimed in. Here's an alternate view. One of my three bikes has H-D's new M8 engine. I love it. I didn't want to but when I test rode it I just loved it. Sigh. A friend of mine has the very motorcycle you are considering. And he feckin' LOVES it. If you like I can connect the two of you and he can share his experience with the Sport Glide. That said, I'd bet that test riding both the H-D Sport Glide and the Triumph Speedmaster will make your decision for you. Can't really go wrong with the most direct and personal evidence available. BTW, that photo of the Sport Glide is bee-yoo-tee-ful! Happy "hunting" and test riding. Let us know what you decide, Repooh.
Nice RePooh, I liked riding the Fatboy 1476 and recently the Fatbob, but haven’t ridden the new Milwaukee 8 107. I love my Speedmaster 1200, so wish you well on your test rides.
SandiT for Prime Minister, see gentleman this is a balanced, considered response, informative, fact-filled and with a dash of love and compassion. None of that testosterone filled HD are shite rhetoric based on my mate Barry having a HD twenty years ago. And to prove the modern HD is a good bike, if each forum member could send me £5, I’ll buy one for research purposes just to be sure. Have a nice day (see another former colony tag line)
You’re not wrong Littleade, I even found myself whilst listening to Corbins manifesto launch, thinking “that makes sense” WTF I am a lifelong wannabe middle class social climber who works hard at looking down on the lower classes. This is no ordinary man-flu I have
I had three of them, counting in my latest M8 114 Fat Bob. Not a single fault. (Oh, wrong: The speedometer on one bike did fog over in damp weather. Like on my Morgan, which is not build by Harley They exchanged it, while Malvern didn‘t.) And @Repooh : You got the price-tag perfectly right! Mine all were around 4500,-€ I could send the ORIGINAL receipts to your better half, if she needed proof... Please keep us posted! Cheers...
Of course what you also have to consider is what image you could afford to portray when off the bike! I’ll leave you to work out which image goes with which bike
Judd Dredd, your adage to "remember it is easier to seek forgiveness than get permission" is one of my favorites. I think that in addition to this thread, it also belongs in the "Quote You Like, Or Rules To Live By" thread!
Why, thank you, Repooh. I do try to be a voice of reason, though Mr. Sandi might beg to differ. (Key word being "beg") I appreciate the positive vote, but I truly don't want to be PM or President or any such thing. Ugh. However, I am eager to read about your Sport Glide and Speedmaster test rides. As Wessa said, go with your heart! You and only you need to be convinced about your purchase.
