Had Steve Jordan Motorcycles upgrade the front and rear suspension to K-Tech Tracker cartridge units on the front and Razor-Lite rear shocks for the back. Noticed the difference on the ride back with me not being pitched out of the seat every time I hit a bump and feeling much planted in the bends. Made riding the bike so much more effortless.3.5 hrs labour and sag checked with me on it.
One of the things Triumph (used to??) get right is half decent suspension out of the box. Bit of a bugger having to put right a brand new model
It seems that the suspension is set up for a typical rider somewhat heavier than myself. Hopefully things will be much better now and in the spring get the opportunity to play around with the settings.
Current set-up is KTech Razor Lite with Tec Bike Parts fork springs and preload cap. Have suspension set with 25mm sag, what amount of sag are you running?
If you mean static sag I have 30mm front and 15mm back. If you mean rider sag it is 35mm front and 20mm back.
Meant rider sag, Is there a reason you didn't go with a balanced rider sag? I do notice a bit of wallow in bumpy high speed corners. Increased rebound and that helped but not a complete fix.
Haven't touched the settings as they were set in the shop. Most of the trip home was fast A roads with few corners but lots of potholes. Ride was much improved but may back off the springs in the rear shocks if they feel too stiff. rebound settings on the back are fully out at the moment. Haven't ridden since as the weather has been awful and I needed to adjust the chain and lube it for the winter.
Interesting that your rebound is at zero, how much do you weight with gear? I am 230lbs with gear. I started rebound at 10 clicks from zero (fully counter clockwise) and have settled at 22 click in (clockwise). Turning to winter in Chicago so bike will go into storage soon. Thanks for the information.
About 175-180lbs. Intend to do some pillion rides come spring so setup is still on the stiff side for solo but much more compliant now particularly on the front end which is: 16 clicks out on compression and 8 on rebound. Enjoy your few remaining rides before storage.
Picking up on an old thread as the title seems appropriate. I just stumbled on a video that anyone contemplating an upgrade might find interesting. Covers the relevant topics quite well.
