I need a bigger trailer for next season, size as per thread title, minimum gross weight capacity of 750kg, but prefer higher capacity with brakes, really after one similar to picture if you know of anyone selling one, preferably within 100 miles of Southampton, have up to £1000 to spend on the right trailer.
in the states I snagged a 2015 model 950 kg capacity "plain Jane" single axle enclosed 10' long box, 68" wide (inside) 6' high trailer for $600, yes it was the highly undesirable plain white (not red, black or HD orange), too short for long Harley's or touring bikes, too narrow for 2 cruiser type motorcycles, no brakes. The guy had bought it to move his household stuff over an extended period. Had tried selling it for 2 years, with no luck, he was 300 miles away but he delivered and met me halfway. Has a full sized tilt down loading ramp rear door and a side door also. Not nearly as pretty or fancy as the deluxe one you have pictured which would probably sell for $1500-2500 or more here. My roof is not capable of holding any kind of additional cargo. Twin axles are nice as they pull straighter, but harder to maneuver. It had a small ding at the bottom of one front corner and only 4 tie down points inside or other goodies which are cheap to add. When shopping patience is your friend.
Agree mate, don't need it until Feb next year so started my search early to see what is about, the one in the picture was up for sale at £1750 which is over my budget, I have already missed a similar one but nowhere near as clean & smart, that was only £650 though, I just thought I would put this thread up in case any (UK) based members saw one that fits the bill, more eyes looking increases the chances.
@Dozers Dad , I am rlying on you here mate, you're like a blood hound for sniffing out a bargain mate!
Strange you didn't get the link? I have been looking at both sites, you have to be fecking quick when one comes on at reasonable money though! The only trouble with the horse box idea is I imagine they are going to be heavier that the fibre glass or composite ones, my trailer this year was great as it was small & light & didn't slow the camper down too much, but had to put much of the stuff in the camper as trailer can't carry too much weight. As a side issue, was surprised that even towing the trailer all year I was getting 26+ MPG out of the old girl.
I had previously seen that Horsebox with the canvas roof, there are also brand new box trailers with canvas roofs for sale quite cheap, but both lack real security mate, when you are carrying a generator, fuel, spares & tools etc, thieving scrote scum are everywhere, don't want to make it easy for them.
That’s the one I called about same day it went on & was sold already Monty. I have alerts set up now on eBay & Gumtree so I know as soon as a new one goes on.
Sold mate, 3 days ago but she clearly don’t appreciate that you sure delete the advert when you sell!
Billy I’m might have the answer I have an ex British gas box trailer I used for motocross meets it’s about the size you want with a fold down rear ply door it is braked too I’ll take some pics over the weekend it will need a coat of paint and you’ll have to buy new tyres locally before you towed it home as they are perished to buggery The good news it free to you Will post pics and sizes soon as I can Then let me know if it’s not for you no problem and I’m in Sudbury Suffolk so you’ll have to think about that too John
In a previous existence, the then wife had 2 horses and she decided that a double horse box trailer would be a good thing to have. The bike, therefore, had to go (BMW R100RS, which, quite by chance, we both liked but it would have made a lousy towing machine) and I managed a trade in for a Rover 2.6 SD1 (couldn't find a 3.5ltr V8 handy at that time) which made quite a good towing vehicle. 2 horses in a twin axle trailer is quite a weighty load but it dealt with it most splendidly. And horse trailers are built to last!! If you get one, make sure you clean all the sh*t out of it - you know what horses are like!
Nice one mate, look forward to seeing some pics. Would be great if it fits the bill (no pun intended!) & free is always a bonus cheers Billy
Please take some photos of the wheels for me to compare when searching fleabay please Jonn, cheers Billy
