Might open a can of worms here...I have been in the motor trade for 40 years now (old git). I work on the car side. I have seen many mechanics/ technicians in this time. Like any job, some are good, some average & some poor. Bonus schemes suit the poor ones. I would say at the dealers I have worked at, I have come across just a handful of really good mechanics that really know their stuff & produce a high standard of work. If a chap was out on the beer the night before/ had a row with his partner or fallen out with his boss etc, these will all affect his attitude to the job. I have seen it so many times. The job carried out on your machine is only as good as the person who carries out the work. There can be 5 techs in a dealership & 2 may be competent. When I picked up my new Speed triple May 2018, the same week I got it home I checked my tyre pressures with a Snap on gauge. Rear was 32, front 24, should be r42, front 34. I have very high standards & I have only found one dealer who (in my opinion) who was good. That was Chris Walker Kawasaki when I had my ZZR 1400 serviced. The workshop could be viewed & the standard was excellent. I realise the standard should be consistent but seldom is. This probably applies to most trades.

With all servicing, although a pain, I make sure the service manager down to the mechanic know I’m there waiting and always check the bike (or car) over before I leave.
Sets the scene early until you build a relationship and can borrow a loaner for a trash after making eye contact as the mechanic collects your baby from the parking area.
Not everyone has the time or patience to do this, but I love my rides and need the same level of care.
Of course I do all basic and some major work myself, but
    Wouldn’t risk a warranty for 2 services
