Hi and welcome, my Mrs did the same at 40, and bought a Street Triple. Four years and 18000 miles later she still loves it. They are great bikes.

Hi glad too see another newbie in the same shoes as me. And that youre enjoying it! not quite on mine yet but how did u find the street r as a first bike? i have gone for the standard street but seen alot of scare mongering posts elsewhere saying too big for a first bike? and its made me slightly nervous lol b these from folks advising others not people going through it themselves. Thanks for all the welcomes, much appreciated. Adam8890, one of the bits of advice I was given was to test ride as many bikes as I could before buying. This I did, and for me the Street was the best 'fit'. I'd read all the reviews and back issues I could get my hands on and they all say the same thing, one of the best bikes for new riders and also for experienced riders too. You know in yourself how much 'talent' you have. I know I don't have much at the moment so ride accordingly but feel a tiny bit more confident with the bike with every trip out. Whose to say what is too big for a first bike and what isn't? A chap who was on DAS at the same time as me, had ordered a 1700cc Harley and hadn't passed part 2 yet! The whole dealer/buying experience was important too and along with Ducati at Alton, Bulldog Triumph at Wokingham were a lesson in how it should be done. Go for it mate and enjoy it!
I saw one of these falling over in a car park the other day , Harley owners group bloke with all the kit , bike dripping in accessories , he had a leather cut with badges all over it , when I'd assisted him it turned out he'd only passed his test about 4 sodding months ago , on a soft tail heritage , got into difficulties in an off camber situation & put the wrong foot down . I didn't take the piss too much I suppose but I can't help just thinking that there's an old saying about walking before running . Motorcycling is a constant learning curve & every time I go out I seem to make a new discovery of some kind . I've been riding for 30 years , but there's people on here who've been riding quite a bit longer . I dunno ,maybe I'm wrong , but I just think people should give themselves a year or two riding through all weathers on something smaller before leaping onto a bloody great big Harley lol
Nothing wrong with a Street Triple as a first bike, its an excellent choice in my opinion, I test rode one before my wife had it as her first bike. A bike that fits is most important, one that is not too tall, reasonably light, smooth and not to intimidating low down in the rev range....... its all of that. It handles great and will still be fun to ride 6 months - year down the road when your confidence and experience grows.
