Hello, I am in the process of doing some customisation on my TTR, I tried to fond any commercially available Κit (or instructions) on Airbox removal/delete, but can't find anything for the 1200 R, all the references are for the 900 Thruxton or T120 Bonnie. the aim is to accommodate a pair of longer 'Pods' that would sit behind the frame Triangle any suggestions, directions? Thanks in advance!
Hi perister, Welcome to the forum and glad to see another Triumph owner from the fine city of Bristol. First things first, hop over to the newbies hangout and introduce yourself and upload a picture of the bike for us inmates to drool over. Ref the airbox - I've found this from British Customs (worth watching just for the squeaky bum moment he has at 1:20). They're based over the pond but I have no doubt you'll have your kit in a few weeks. If not, at least it's a good video on how to access the airbox/remove it.
Wow thats a lot of work just to remove it. Yes, it looks kool to have the filter pods there but....think just removing the snorkel is good for now, which i have done. Increase of hp, probably minimal.
H Tom, this Kit is for the T120 Bonnie, would it be very different to the one needed for the TTR? I have seen the video, and indeed to 'close call' was interesting
just to give you an idea, this would be the 'ideal' result (inbox removal wise) I know it is quite difficult to achieve, but anything 'close' this would be very nice!
I;ve read quite a few threads on various forums , and so far the gains are minimal. Looks wise I'm in love the shorty pods ..they are way cool. I'm thinking the air intake is where it is for their version of CAI , very popular in cars. Get the intake into the coldest air possible. Right behind the cylinder isn't it. The complete clean up looks great .
Hello All, after many months of delays & set backs, I have finally managed to put together the bike again! a quick photo is attached of course it is very far away from what I wanted, but it is a running bike again, so this is a progress next on the list is indeed to try and get rid of the airbox as much as possible, and replace the plastic side covers with flat Aluminum ones, that would make the bike slimmer, I hope My question now would be, as I have new aftermarket mufflers + x Pipe + Air pod filters installed, do I need to get a PC V and re-map the engine? this would be a quite considerable cost, but if it is expected to make a serious difference to the way the bike works, then so be it! any thoughts/suggestions?
