Welcome from sunny California. I have a 2018 Street Twin. Love it. Had it just about 2 years now and 6,500 miles. Electronics are fine as it has been flawless. Plus with a new bike you get that 'new bike smell' !! And one thing about the T100 vs Street Twin. Street Twin has cast wheels and tubeless tires. Can plug a flat tire on the side of the road on the ST. Can't do that on the T100 with tube tires. But to each his own. (My ST below)
Do note that the SE has 17" wheels whereas the T100 (depending on the age) has 19" or 18" wheels. The SE would handle better because of smaller wheels but if you are a tall person, you might like that extra space offered on the T100. The SE also has tubeless tires which could be considered as an advantage over the T100's tubed tires/spoked rims but if you are after that classic look, spokes it would be. Oh, and yes- welcome!
I don't disagree as rider experience, height, weight etc. all contribute to the overall handling. Even going just by the specs, the SE is shorter and wider than the T100 making the former more nimble and easier turning compared to the T100 but this does not mean the SE is better than the T100. Only emphasizes the significance of a test ride to chose the right bike for you.
To be honest Ive learned a lot by this tread, and from a novice with only limited funds, I am beginning to think triumph is not such a good idea, to many variants, I have test ridden a T100 and loved it, all smiles, now I find the SE is nothing like the T100 because I am told it has smaller wheels, and a smaller bike, at my age and 6ft tall I want to buy a bike to keep. I think I will look elsewhere. Thank you all for your replies, as you have saved me money. thank you all once more. mallywoods
Thank you, to be honest I don't like the colures. but thank to you. I won't give up I will find a T100 but I did like the SE I can only imagine that will be to small for me, there are none in my area I can sit on.
That was a stupid thing for me to say, I love triumphs, just need to give myself a bit more time to find the right one. A big thank you to all on the forum who replied to me, all very much appreciated believe me, Ive learned a lot. Ive just sold a 995i sprint which I owned for a few years, but at 66yrs it got just to heavy. This is where the Bonneville comes in. Just didn't realise there was a big difference between the T100 and a lovely looking SE that I was looking at.
I was equally overwhelmed when I first started looking at Triumphs a few years ago- so many models and versions!! But once you start categorizing them, it becomes easy and starts to make sense. Sort out your priorities in terms of what you want most from your bike and that should help narrow down the choices. Do test-ride as it makes a huge difference. A lot of people here buy online which is fine but there are many here too who changed their decision after the test drive. Meanwhile, if you have slightly deeper pockets, you can consider this: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classi...de=nr105aj&sort=price-asc&make=TRIUMPH&page=1 Super-low miles, younger, and nice color combination and still housing the brilliant 865cc engine. And I think it is not far from where you are. Worth a visit at least!
