    Hi,

I've been thinking about changing the rear suspension on my Thruxton S because I can get a good deal on some Bitubo WME units. I thought I'd get a couple of quotes from main dealers to fit them as I don't have a paddock stand. Both quoted half an hour labour and £50, to essentially remove 4 bolts then do them up again. Maybe the lowest default is 30 mins. Anyway, if I go ahead I'll do it myself, I've replaced twin unit rear suspension before just on the sidestand, can see no reason I can't do it that way on the Thruxton?

    Cheers

You don’t need a paddock stand mate just do one side at a time.
Bottom out first and top in last.

    15 min max

    Thanks Glyn,

That's pretty much what I figured, did the same on my Bonnie, you just have to lift the frame slightly to get the top in if I remember right.

I just bolted the bottom in and gave it a slight tap at the top with a rubber dead blow mallet

Italy has shut down for August so at least 4 to 5 weeks before I can get the shocks. Saw an online Thruxton R manual that recommends getting new bolts top and bottom if they are removed, seems a bit overkill to me.

    Cheers

Italy summer shutdown is a mare, I just put new loctite on my bolts so far everything’s still on
