So to go with my new bike (https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/newbie.20618/#post-334239) I decided it was time to get a new lid too.

My last one was an Arai Axces 2. Great helmet, but unfortunately (or fortunately) I had lost weight since I last had a bike (3 years ago) resulting in it wanting to lift at motorway speeds which was a bit unnerving. The Axces 2 was Arais entry level at the time, and one of the benefits you lost was the ability to change out the pads. Everything is glued in.

So, after spending a bit of time researching and even more time trying on, I eventually settled on the Shoei NXR. Very pleased with it so far.

This is the TC5 Philosopher design.

Hi and welcome to this great forum. I used to have an Arai Chaser V, but fancied a change and found the Shoei NXR really comfortable and not bulky. I have the one in the picture and I got the self tinting visor, which works really well. Great helmet!

Just had a look at these self tinting visors. £130 and not road legal?
Think I’ll stick with just swapping over visors.

I love the NXR! It's the most comfortable and lightest helmet I ever owned. It's very well ventilated too. I'm not too keen on their new designs though but I must say, that TC5 Philosopher does look classy!

Great helmets. I’m currently looking at the new Gt Air 2, but will look at this one as well.

Was a Arai fan for years, then they changed the design and i was hitting my nose on the visor !!!!

Plus there refusal to fit internal visors, made me also change to Shoei. Got a GT-Air. Great helmet, other than lack of ability to open visor a few mm (fixed that myself), but do find it quieter and better at keeping the rain out around the visor thsn he Arai's. Don't think I'll be going back to Arai.

Yep, had a transitions visor on mine when I came off my RC8 last year, face planted the floor then slid a while, that was that fooked! On the bright side, the NXR helmet had light scratches & still passes ACU race scrutineering

This was my favourite Shoei design, back on the XR900, James Haydon replica, really stood out!

    Hi,

How does the Shoei compare to the Arai for noise? I find my Chaser V quite noisy.

    Cheers

    Got a Shoei NXR also.

It’s a good fit which to me is the most important thing.
